Guys! I won 2nd place!! I didn't honestly expect to place at all, I just entered for fun, so I'm really happy! The #1 winner absolutely deserved it and won by a landslide, which I'm not surprised by, given how much detail they put into theirs. 3rd was one of my favs so I'm happy for them too!

I entered the fanart contest for Amaru 2 by @fogofmaya.bsky.social and I'm a finalist! (It's a really neat self-care app where you take care of a pet AND yourself!) I have a couple extra pics of him on my deviant art (link in bio) I really just entered for fun but it's cool to get this far!

I recently watched Yu-Gi-Oh GX again. I forgot how much it had resonated with me when I first watched it 13 years ago with my brother. I'm way better at crocheting now so I finally caved and made myself a Duel Academy jacket! It took me about 40 total hours over an 8 day stretch. Get your game on!

Apparently today is Jaden Yuki's birthday and I'm just now learning this? 🥳 A few months ago, I bought the perfect accessory for my Slifer Red Duel Academy jacket. Might as well show him off! Maybe I'll crochet hime one day too, but this was too cute to pass up #yugiohgx

Got in the most random mood to draw tonight, which is not really a thing I do anymore. I'm not great at it unless I'm copying a picture though, so I did my favorite screencap from Pokemon Scarlet, of me and my shiny horse 🐎✨ I gave up on drawing years ago, but I guess I've still got it a little.

I present to you: "Bad looking Jigglypuff! (ugly)" I already did a "remake childhood thing, but good" when I made Pikachu, so now I figured I should "remake childhood thing, and change nothing" This is a Jigglypuff I drew in 1st grade that I somehow never figured out was missing ears 💀 #crochet

I didn't get this done in time for #DQ40th but seeing ✨new Monsters game✨ announcement reminded me to get back to this. I wanted to make Watabou ever since I started crocheting years ago. #DQMonsters was the game that got me into Dragon Quest, not knowing back then that there was a whole series! 🤯

Something I've wanted to make for years. A childhood friend of mine introduced me to Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat when I was 12. I moved far away the next year but was still able to watch it on local TV so I felt connected in a way. She's been a favorite character of mine ever since. #crochet

I wasn't specifically trying to go for a chibi look but that's kinda how she ended up.

Needle felting the face details was a lot of fun, it's very satisfying to see it come into shape so easily.

I'm excited to say, I might be the owner of the only crochet Worm in existence! I was REALLY into Monster Rancher for a time as a kid, and Worm was my absolute favorite monster (I got him from using my Spyro game disc). He's so ugly, and yet so cute! #monster_rancher #crochet

He's long and brown, with a pointy head, beady little green eyes, a weirdly cute, beak-like mouth with long tusks on either side. What's not to love about him?

I stuffed him firmly enough to hold his shape, but loosely enough that he has some degree of pose-ability in the tail.

I likely won't have time to do anything new for Heroes of Mana's anniversary tomorrow, so I thought about planning ahead for ChuChu Rocket. I didn't realize it's U.S. release anniversary was *today* 😅 Here's a ChuChu plush I made when I was 12. I was deeply obsessed with the little guys back then.

I've done the crochet equivalent of a #drawitagain challenge! I really wanted a Pikachu plush as a kid before they were everywhere, so I made this when I was 7. Lately, I've been unsatisfied with the lack of bean-shaped Pikachu, and decided to make my own. #Pokemon30th

I got really into Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor) as a teenager, and I wanted to make Kitty (Liya/Lyra) forever ago, but never could get the head right. It turns out this was the perfect application for needle felting! The eyes are so cool! Her head is so fuzzy!

I knew about brushed yarn strand hair, but I recently learned that I can brush flat crochet stitches until they turn into hair too 🤯 I also tried my hand at needle felting for the eyes, and I love it so much better than glued felt! (It's not Kuriboh, it's Wretched Ghost of the Attic) #yugioh

I wanted to make this style of hat years ago, and suddenly had the idea to make it Kuromametchi style after booting up my Tamagotchi again. I don't usually like making "trendy" things but the recent popularity of these hats reminded me they existed. And it is a comfy hat so I can't be mad.

I spent 35+ hours making this cardigan thing this week. I don't really like blue, but I had the yarn laying around and needed to get rid of it. I ended up having to buy more to finish it though, so I didn't really get rid of anything 😩 I gathered the back to give it a slightly flared bottom edge.

Either Santa came late, or the Birthday Fairy came early this year. I found this on my doorstep when I got home tonight, so I decided to make some authentic Redwall Scones 🍞🐁 They're really good with honey! (I didn't have any strawberry jam on hand)

This Year's Crochet: 2025 Edition I had a nice lineup this year of Yugioh, Bubble Bobble, Lolo, Hamtaro, Pokemon, and Echoes of Mana. (With guest appearance by [A Regular Duck]!) I usually only make one big thing a year, but Radish Horse and Knitwit King both called out to me this year. #crochet

Just A Duck @blackwing-duck.bsky.social · 01/12/2025

I find this a little hard to believe, but I seem to be the only person in the world (or at least the Internet) who has ever crocheted Rainbow Kuriboh. Surely Zexal wasn't *that* unpopular? I think Yu-Gi-Oh just isn't very common among crocheters, which is a shame. #yugioh #crochet

Just A Duck @blackwing-duck.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

I watched #yugioh Arc-V recently and decided I must have Performapal Radish Horse. So I spent the last 5 days working on this and once again surpassing my expectations of myself. I don't consider myself great at making leaves, but I guess I've really gotta stop doubting myself 😅 #crochet 🐎🥕

Performapal Radish Horse stands with all the glory that a horse made of vegetables is able to stand with.

A better view of the mane. I added the lower part of the mouth at the very end, and didn't realize how much of a game changer it would be, it really completes the look.

I'm not 100% thrilled with how I did the chain stitches on the tail, but I think it still ended up looking pretty nice. Having it on both sides of the leaf added some sturdiness though and makes it stick out and hold shape a little better so it wasn't all bad.

When Stardust Dragon faces a problem he can't overcome with strength alone, he removes himself to get a better look at the situation, allowing him to negate the problem and get rid of it. Then he can come back feeling refreshed next turn. In your difficult times, be like Stardust Dragon 💪🐲✨

Monster effect reads: "You can tribute this card to negate the activation of a spell, trap, or monster effect that destroys a card(s) on the field, and destroy that card. If you negate an effect this way, you can special summon this card from your graveyard during the end phase.

My puzzle game fixation led me back to Lolo 2, a game I've had since I was 5 and never beat. I recently played it again and finally beat it, and now I feel smart. It's surprisingly fun for how difficult it is. I decided he was very craftable, and I love how the tail came out! #crochet #lolo

Crochet Lolo stands in a top-down view of a crayon colored diorama of origami trees, grass, and a heart frame.

A close-up, front view of Lolo standing behind the heart frame, where he will be safe from enemy attacks

A nice side view, accentuating the shape of the tail

My very old, very scuffed, and somehow still functioning NES cartridge of Lolo 2 that I've had since before my conscious memory

I've been having car trouble this week and getting rides to work, but my coworker declined my offer for gas money. But since I felt bad about troubling him, I made a Wooper as thanks. #crochet #pokemon #wooper

"Watch out! Wild Pokemon live in tall grass!"

The crochet Wooper stands bravely amongst tufts of origami grass and trees.

The crochet Wooper stares stoically out a window, perhaps contemplating how he could have been born from but a simple string.

I've been in a Bubble Bobble mood and also needed a new bag, and realized I haven't cross-stitched in a while, so I made this over the past 4 days. I scrapped some work pants for the lining, and made the candy button from clay and painted it. I really love how it turned out! #bubble_bobble #crochet

I had a random mood to play Puzzle Bobble this week, I used to play 4 on GBC a lot when I was 10 or so. But Bob was always my favorite when me and my brother used to play Bubble Bobble as kids, and I can't usually play him unless there's two of us. So I made a lil plushie about it 💙🐲

I was almost too late to post this for #trialsofmana_30th_anniversary ! I was never very good at the game when I played "Secret of Mana 2" as a kid (I was 7), but this track [Little Sweet Cafe] stuck with me for years until I played the remake and gave me so much nostalgia! #manaseries #music_cover

I hit a 1500 day streak on Amaru yesterday, the self care app I've been using by @fogofmaya.bsky.social I once hit a consecutive 64-note run on the memory bell game, and while I can't break my record, I've been easily doing 25-30 in a row this week. It's a fun way to stretch my short-term memory.

I made this for a friend whose name means "snail" in another language. When I looked for inspiration, I was disappointed to see just how many ai-generated "crochet" (it can't be actually done) snail images there were, so I decided to use a real snail for reference. I rather like the result! #crochet

One year ago today, I bought my mini shamisen. I've been practicing it almost daily since then, and while I am by no means a prodigy, I think I've done pretty well considering there are very limited learning resources over here. This song is from the GBC #hamtaro game and I tabbed it out myself.

Okay since @feetstroganoff.bsky.social allowed it, here's Piss Crow! I told them about the time I had to say "Go-P" was the word for "friend" as a kid. I imagined him as this handsome crow that assists Hamtaro when you "Go-P" and I sent the chicken pic as a reference. "Piss Crow" just kind of stuck.

I went to a local Chinese Lantern festival with my brother and a friend this weekend and it was really cool! I've always loved lanterns, and anything with a bird or dragon aesthetic. Also took a pic of my zodiac animal, the snake 🐍 (I'm 1990 but Chinese New Year was after my birthday that year)

Text below the snake lantern reads "All the different styles and postures of the snake are seen with beauty. Snakes are ones to give unconditional friendships, brotherhoods, and love. Their exquisiteness is used to conquer strength. A very open-minded animal."
