Acorn — a platform your community owns

Acorn is one piece of a larger effort to build community infrastructure on the open social web. If your community needs a place to gather, you can start building one now. acorn.blacksky.community

acorn.blacksky.community

Custom feeds, your own moderation rules, member badges, and a branded client — on infrastructure your community controls.

0658

We’re also launching a free tier aligned with the community spaces spec Bluesky is building, so communities can get started without a monthly subscription. Paid plans are available for communities that need more infrastructure, customization, and management tools.

1593

We're building primarily for organized, real-world (and online) communities. We believe in connecting people with people (not just content). With Acorn, communities can have their own space while still being connected to the much larger AT Protocol ecosystem.

1560

We talked to a lot of communities from our waitlist about what they actually needed. The common thread was: “we need better online infrastructure”. They wanted to have a space that had the power to be independent with solid moderation, and a mix of public and private conversations.

1640

Acorn gives communities the ability to grow and engage their people - without requiring them to build and maintain an entire social network themselves. This includes public + private feeds, member and moderation management, data hosting on their own servers (with their own branding), and more.

1644

We built Acorn around a pretty simple idea: people should be able to have a place on the open social web that belongs to their community. Not just a page or a feed - but a space to actually gather, talk, organize, and build relationships.

Blacksky was one of the 1st PDSs to allow open sign ups We are also now the largest PDS deployment that doesn't run any of bsky's code Sorry for the turbulence. It was the one-time price to pay for being able to build features like private accounts or sign-in via phone number w/o waiting on Bluesky

We’re thrilled by Blacksky’s growth! To make your experience even better, we’re starting 4 weeks of server maintenance. You might see some temporary delays or limitations with Blacksky-only posts, notifications, and likes. We know this is not ideal, but we will update you all regularly!

Blacksky users on a Bluesky PDS may be experiencing some problems, which means the Blacksky app or the Blacksky feeds may be slower or down for those users. Migrating to a Blacksky PDS may also be riskier. Users on the Blacksky PDS (like users with a blacksky.app handle) should be unaffected
