Millennials really are the fastest generation to become quaint, aren't they? I don't hate them, they're good people overall, but are harder to take seriously sometimes than even Gen X or Gen Z. I suppose nobody can score 10s in everything.

Thanks for writing these, and for daring to question the basic institutions of control we have over youth. I've been of the belief that things like CSA, even just child abuse generally, are inevitable as long as kids don't have full self-sovereignty over their housing, health, education, etc.

Cancellation could only work when we really believed our voices alone could change things. But the reality always was that only our actions do, how we make & maintain & change systems that do real things. And that takes much more commitment, which forces us to reckon with the true value of doing it.

The campaign to cancel people over Kirk jokes, to get people fired or even legally investigated, really showed that cancellation isn't really about values, but about grievance. Worst of all, whether someone does something "cancellable" has shown itself to be economically irrelevant.

I think... I think cancellation died when they tried to cancel people over Charlie Kirk's death. It just ruined any credibility behind the very format of the act by exposing its pointlessness. It's a little like when a meme dies when corporate brands start using them.
