#health #diet I could write a book on how I changed my diet. Almost always maintained a healthy weight but BP shot up at fifty five. Was told it was 'genetic' & take pills. I said to my GP, 'Can I try a strong diet change first? It worked. I'm not dismissing meds but try lifestyle first. 🙏

#gardening #ponds #fish So happy to see my Southern Pygmy Perch pond water temperature climb to 9C, by mid August. They are able to start feeding, consistently above 10C water temperature. Should start breeding at 16C - by October. Go fishies. Be happy. Make babies. 🐟

#bluemountains Amazing. Fish are feeding in my pond in mid June, in Blackheath. At nearly 1100M above sea level, this is only the second time I've experienced this in 29 years. Pond is still 11C. Normally 5C, by now. Also happened in June 2005 but it got much colder by late June 2005 with snow.

An impromptu memorial service for Caroline Collits today at Mt Vic - near where she was murdered in 1842. Local lore says her ghost is often seen, near the GWH. They buried her at Hartley in an unmarked grave, not even with her family. So sad & so very wrong. RIP dear Caroline. We remember you.🙏❤️

#weather #winter Fun experiment at Blackheath Pool park, this morning. At 8am, zero degrees down there at 1.4M above the ground and 6.1C at Mt Boyce AWS. A nice radiative cooling event. Cold minimums like this have nothing to do with 'global cooling'. That's why it was 6.1C at Mount Boyce AWS.

#gardening #ponds #fish OMG. I'm so excited. I spotted six (of twelve) of my Southern Pygmy Perch in the frog pond - released in early March. These gorgeous little native fish have been effectively extirpated from NSW from over-development. Hoping to breed them. Now, to get them through winter...

#exercise #health Wow, I negative split my fire trail speed walk - no running allowed. Felt inspired after the incredible national athletics, last night. 20.04 on the way down, 18.01 on the return. First time I've negative split since my shoulder injury. A year of recovery still to go... 🙏✌️🏃‍♀️

My first and second snow chase vehicles, back in the old days. Can't beat those old Coronas! Needed biceps like Arni to turn a sharp corner. No power steering or air con for summer. 🙃 BTW, we are now in the longest stretch in the BMs (Blackheath) without a significant snowfall, since the 1800s.

#tornado #bluemountains #weather #meteorology Reports of possible tornado in Megalong Valley on Sunday night (21/12). Looks like an EF-0. May stronger. One observer said it twisted down a driveway then damaged a home. Many trees snapped at local school etc. Please let me know, if you know more.
