The reality is that humans are very visual critters. Current theory is that at least 50% of the human brain is directly or indirectly associated with vision. So I can't claim surprise when looks matter. It just part and parcel if you want humans to notice and like shit. SURPRISE! Art is important.

Most of the people I know reading DCC don't even game But I appreciate that all of a sudden more people are, at least, adopting a gaming adjacent perspective. And Ive actually been able to convince two of them to join our group. Hadn't played with new gamers in a while. Its refreshing!

Agreed. It really adds to the story when the "why" of an ineffectual attack. Gets the players more immersed. Also turns into another venue of data and lore gathering. I had one player who was a noncom and just watched the battles to learn about the various monsters and opponents.

And engaging in the "porn vs RP" debate risks the suggestion of arguable validity to an analogy so weak that it simply doesnt exist. Because sex is motivating for such largely different reasons than storytelling that we are creating more fiction than truth by trying to make a connection.

Agreed I suspect that the western perspective of sex is much too convoluted for it to be used accurately or effectively as an analogy for much of anything We understand only a fraction of the psychosocial and biological workings of Analogy that I attempt patience with cheap and lazy wordplay.

Feel your pain. We're trying to create a system that is genre agnostic and this means we get passed over when people are looking for a specific genre game, even though our system play almost any genre beautifully.
