In a candid interview on 60 Minutes Australia, Chinese entrepreneur and policy commentator Victor Gao laid out what it would actually take for the United States to bring manufacturing back home—and his assessment was far from optimistic. He challenged the idea that “reshoring” is a serious, actionable plan rather than a political talking point, asking whether the U.S. is truly ready for the trade-offs involved. From his perspective, undoing decades of outsourcing would require:- Significantly higher labor costs- Rebuilding a skilled workforce that has largely disappeared- Reconstructing industrial infrastructure from the ground up- Passing higher production costs onto consumers- Potentially reshaping the global balance of economic powerHis conclusion was direct: reclaiming industrial strength isn’t about rhetoric—it demands years of effort, major workforce shifts, and enormous financial investment. The broader takeaway is simple—supply chains are deeply rooted systems that can’t be relocated overnight, and global economics doesn’t bend to slogans.Follow @scrollasia for more reels like this!#trump #victorgao #china #america #chinavsamerica #donaldtrump #americafirst #Manufacturing #GlobalEconomy #Geopolitics #USChina #IndustrialPolicy #Economics #Trade #Offshoring #EconomicStrategy #MadeInUSA #GlobalTrade #FutureOfWork #EconomicReality #PolicyDebate #WorldEconomy
