Finally, there are some 1960s "flower-power" images on the cover as well. Frankly, it's my favorite cover for any of my books. Last week I finished recording the audio book, and so on Feb. 3, you'll be able to read the book in print, as an ebook and via audio.

The Spirit is at work. Pope Leo's responses to Elise Allen are a great "companion piece" to Bishop Savino's beautiful homily at the Church of the Gesu - to turn to others, face to face is choice a specific "point of view," "attitude." Both speak Jesus's call of how we must see each other.💖

My reflections: Pope Leo's response to this question is very much along the lines of Pope Francis's response, which I find very hopeful. The Holy Father is for a church that welcomes "todos, todos, todos,"

And of course Pope Leo is correct that LGBTQ people are still a highly polarizing issue in the Catholic Church; the Synod showed us that.

But two things stand out for me in his remarks. First, the Holy Father's desire for people to "get to know one another and respect one another," which, when it comes to LGBTQ people, is still a challenge in many parts of the church.

Also an appeal to a change in "attitude" as a precursor to any other change. Second is his use of the term "LGBT" and "LGBTQ," which itself is a step forward.

(At the synod there were many who objected even to the term.) So my sense (and this was my sense from meeting him a few weeks ago) is that Pope Leo's approach to LGBTQ Catholics is a continuation of Pope Francis's approach, which is all to the good.
