New paper out in JIE🎉 Working across time zones is the norm for many jobs. But it has gendered health effects. More late-night/off-hour work → higher antidepressant use among women vs men; esp. younger, college-educated and single mothers. Thanks @askernc.bsky.social @jrmunch.bsky.social & Beata!

I got an unsolicited e-mail from a stranger complimenting something I'd written. When I thanked him for taking the time to reach out, he replied that he'd been motivated by something he'd recently heard: "Keeping a good thing to yourself is as bad as saying a bad thing." Amen.

The articled looks at the research on Trump-era tariffs and puts it into an Icelandic perspective. Back of the envelope calculations suggest that current tariffs could cost the U.S. the equivalent of Iceland’s GDP over half to a full decade annually 🫰💰

After years in the making, I am happy to share a new guide for gravity estimations. Our recommendations are motivated by trade theory, but most of them apply broadly, e.g., to migration, FDI, etc. Mario Larch, Serge Shikher, & I hope this is useful. Gravity rules 💪 ideas.repec.org/p/drx/wpaper...
