Transom windows!!! These are pretty common in older homes, they helped with airflow before everything had air conditioning! Here is ours!

As a kid my favorite snack was garden ripe tomatoes with cottage cheese and a bit of salt and pepper. That is essentially pared down caprese salad and I only realized that the other day.

Yesterday was rough. I am trying to be stoic and maintain routine to have a bit of normalcy, but it hurts. It's gonna hurt for awhile, I know. Roya, my old lady baby dog, I loved you so much. I am a better person because of you, and I hope you knew just how much we loved you. Rest well, pup.

Christmas pickles are done. That was a very involved 4 days.

7 jars of Christmas Pickles sitting on silicone hotpads after finishing sealing in. hot water bath.

They are made with red hots and a crap ton of sigar, so the final pickle is bright red and tastes sweet, cinnamony and tangy from the vinegar.

Even though I lost a bunch of beans I was still able to make a pint of dilly beans, and freeze 5 servings of Dragon Tongue beans. Took a look at the garden before dinner and was like 'Oh shit! Long beans!!' And spent a long ass time working on the Christmas Pickles. It was a busy day.

These are dill, garlic, chili, green bean in a brine.

Three more silver slicer cucumbers, the white type that I call ghost cucumbers, and a handful of long beans.

Other items are also on the island like a box of M&M's an Aim and Flame lighter, a jar of peanut butter, and more.

Christmas pickles are treated with pickling lime, then rinsed and soaked in ice water before being boiled in vinegar, and pickling salt. At this point they are sitting in a solution of sugar, vinegar, water and red hots which was boiled into a syrup.

Once finished they are tangy and sweet and
spicy from both the vinegar and cinnamon candies.

Spent about three hours in the garden. Got a bunch of it cleaned up and finally got a bunch of things harvested. Still have more clean up to do, but its getting there. Now to prep a bunch of veggies for pickles and also freezing!

Something Crawled Out by Son M., Madcursed, Astone & Campbell I got the first issue on Free Comic Book day & was intrigued enough to pick up the full novel. It... is something. It does what it sets out to, but I can't help but feel like I'm not full. Solid C - okay read w/unexplored possibility.

Time to finish painting this room.

Two walls which have been taped off and primed for painting. There is a dog in a fluffy dog bed pictures and you can see into the hallway as well with the stairs leading to the second floor.

It was 80 woth 80% humidity out. Perfect for weeding and moving around the volunteer plants! We got a bonus 2 eggplant, 6 tomatoes and 14 pepper plants from last year! So far we have enjoyed the dill, chives and radishes. The peas are flowering and I just picked garlic scapes!

The Final Baby is born. Each head has its own limbs as if there were some sort of strange melting in my womb as I conceived it. Roya was slightly concerned, however I did wake her up to make the introduction. Hopefully a proper playdate can be arranged tomorrow.

The Final Baby, an assortment of stuffed animal sloth parts pieced together from at least three sloth that were torn apart.

I think this is the second iteration of Baby with two new legs sprouting out of the left side of its face. It is looking at the camera, unable to scream as it no longer has a mouth.

The only two parts of the original baby. One head and one arm. This baby has no eyes as those are the parts that Roya likes to bite off first.

The newest of the Babies. It stares at the camera, unamused at the literal case of foot in mouth that it has developed.

This sleepy lady has destroyed several stuffed sloth over the 8 years we have lived here. They have all been named some iteration of 'Baby'. I have saved as much of them as possible and am currently piecing together 'The Final Baby'.
