David Huberman from ICANN shared at #ABQNOG that the DNS root KSK rollover is October 11. Running a DNSSEC-validating resolver? Confirm KSK-2024 (key tag 38696) is in your trust anchors if not, every query SERVFAILs. Not the DNS gal or guy? Pass this along! www.icann.org/resources/pa...

Getting an education on XPO optics from Vijay Vusirikala from Arista Networks. This density is insane! #NFD40

Have heard a lot from all the vendors building networking for AI at #NFD40. Brendan from Arista Networks is doing a great job of breaking down the different architectures and the Arista differentiators.

Today's soundtrack: Cloakroom's Dissolution Wave 🎵 This album has owned my ears for 3 years straight and I'm still not tired of it. If you're new to Cloakroom, start with "Dissembler" from this album. What's in your rotation right now? I'm always hunting for the next album to obsesses over.

Behold, the Cisco FastHub 108T from 1997 - when 100Mbps shared bandwidth was cutting-edge and we lived without VLANs or auto-negotiation. Almost 30 years later, this single collision domain relic really shows how spoiled we've become with modern networking. (Yes, that's an OUI transceiver on top 🙂)

So here's a rare personal post where I wanted to share a little bit of a backyard performance from my daughter Eliza's band. They're called Learner and they're really good. If you dig em, you should go see them if they end up near you. Follow on Instagram www.instagram.com/learner.oh/. So proud 🥺

Anyone else struggle with whether or not to pack a console cable on every trip "just in case," even though you'll probably never need it? No? Just me? 😅 'm packing up for the Ohio Higher Education Computing Council (OHECC) meeting at the University of Cincinnati! Want to meet up?

With Selector's Network DVR you can go back in time to see previous states of the network. If a network path changed, you can see that and the insight is based on real device forwarding state, not just ICMP based tools like traceroute or ping. #NFD37

Versa Networks defines Sovereign SASE as a customer hosted SASE solution. These clients require a bespoke network/POP design for traffic optimization, are very sophisticated from a threat intelligence perspective and have the personnel resources to manage it. #NFD37

Interesting insight on quantum networks vs conventional networks of today. You can't amplify or repeat qubits so there are distance limitations. Hundreds of kilometers terrestrially, thousands of kilometers if via satellite. Today's quantum networks will be stay metro or regional for now. #nfd37

BT has been working on quantum communications for a long time. They are utilizing Toshiba kit for quantum key distribution (QKD) and feel it is best in class for this application. #nfd37

"Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" is a big risk. We have to get to quantum encryption sooner than later to minimize the exposure of data encrypted now that can be cracked later by quantum computers. #nfd37

Spending time with the ones you love is so important. Essential, actually. Just got back from spring break with my family and it was so fulfilling. We went to Joshua Tree, CA which is just an incredibly beautiful place. You have to take the time to slow down, get away from the grind and unplug.

Another exhibit from Jason's vault of personal electronics history. This my first laptop, the Zenith Data Systems Masters Port 386SL 💻 It doesn't even boot anymore but I can't bear to part with it. Is anyone else out there an electronics hoarder like me? 😂

Anyone recognize this? ☎️ Looks like a Radio Shack Tone Dialer but it's a legendary "Red Box". A 6.5khz crystal mod made it speak the language of payphones. One * press = nickel, two = dime, five = quarter in phone switch tones. Saved me countless quarters on long distance calls back in the 90s!

Found this little guy (big brown bat) on the sidewalk this morning. Seemed to not be feeling so well so he's been moved safely to a box with a cozy cloth until we get him to the local wildlife center. Fortunately we have one close by happy to take him!
