Somehow his well wishes seemed to fall flat. Sherry swallowed hard, a subtle motion, and stepped back. She nodded once and moved to the door. His smile was unnerving to say the least. But she didn't let it intimidate her. Taking a deep breath she stepped through...

Reaching the Care Center, Sherry stepped inside. The foyer was empty but she heard a scream echoing down one of the expansive halls. It was enough to make her fingers twitch near her weapon. Careful steps guided her down a hall, searching for anything helpful.

His smile stirred ire within, feeling as though she weren't being taken seriously. When he towered over her she didn't shrink back. Sherry had faced plenty of 'monsters' before now. She gestured to a nearby door. "I'd like to take a look around."

Sherry's resolve deepened, her expression turning determined. "There have been multiple reports." Was all she offered, becoming rather tight lipped on the topic. She moved toward the desk, placing her hands against it and leaned forward. "If I find anything, I will not hesitate to shut you down."

Sherry felt herself grow warm, flushing slightly. But she wouldn't be deterred. A call had come through, the voice scared and miserable. It was full of static, but placed the hospital as the site of human experimentation. "We have reason to believe that you are conducting illegal activities."

"I'm here to..." Sherry faltered, never being very good at lying. Instead she dove straight in. She whipped out her DSO ID. "That's 'Agent' Birkin. And you are under investigation."

She sat up rubbing her eyes. Shuffling towards the kitchen, the smell of coffee soon permeated the air. Sherry poured herself a cup and sweetened it, stifling a yawn. Hearing someone come down the hall from the spare bedroom, she poured another cup and murmured "good morning" quietly [open rp]

Sherry shot up in bed, chest heaving for breath and eyes darting their gaze around the room. It was empty. She was safe. She put a clammy hand against her cheek and willed herself to breathe slowly. There were no monsters. No infected. Just her. She exhaled a soft breath and closed her eyes again. >
