2/3 Mit einem unlauteren Manöver versucht der Rat nun, das EP im nächsten Plenum zur Annahme seiner Position zur Interim-VO zu bewegen. Er gefährdet die Verhandlungsfortschritte zur langfristigen VO mit dem Ziel, dass das EP gezielte Maßnahmen aufgibt und damit den Weg für wahlloses Scannen ebnet.

2/2 Council’s timing to adopt a position on the interim regulation now to push it through the next plenary is a foul manoeuvre. It jeopardises the progress made on the permanent regulation and pressures Parliament to concede targeted measures and open the door to permanent indiscriminate scanning.

Ungarn hat Orban abgewählt. Ein schneller Übergang ist notwendig, damit Peter Magyar den demokratischen Umbau aufnehmen kann - und so auch bisher eingefrorene EU-Mittel nach und nach freigegeben werden können. Diese Wahl ist eine Ermutigung auch für Demokraten in anderen Ländern.

Die Kommission zieht die #ePrivacy -VO zurück, die klare Regeln zum digitalen Briefgeheimnis schaffen sollte. Statt einheitlicher Datenschutzstandards bleibt das Browsen ein Spießrutenlauf. Die Kommission muss eine Alternative für die Vertraulichkeit der Kommunikation der Europäer*innen liefern.
