Chiming in on this for once. I usually avoid getting involved with AI discussions because I'm too stupid to leave the "but" out of discussions... buuuut they asked. I'm glad that they're having an open dialog regarding this.

I'm a software developer myself and I totally understand the issues that AI is bringing into this ecosystem. Our tools are focusing more and more on AI assistance and generation. These can be good tools in the right hands. The problem is these tools are very easy to be used by the wrong people, and it's spearheaded by bad people.
I use AI in my day-to-day development work myself, as someone who's been in the industry for almost a decade I see some benefits. Agentic assistance is great as it cuts down laborious tasks, and researching via these tools can be really useful and you can use these tools as a base platform to learn. Case and point, I'm currently implementing new authentication into APIs. It's work I've never done before and it's easing my ability to parse dense technical documentation. In terms of actual generated AI code though, I do use it from time to time but I do extensively review whatever was generated, alter the code to fit my own style and ensure that slop does not exist. Unit tests sure I'll generate them. Live code, maybe small snippets just to boost my work efficacy. Whole features or even internal tools is a no-go for me.
The problem is it's VERY easy to abuse these systems, and they are being designed to not assist but replace people. I've already lost a job to AI - the entire 15 person team was made redundant at the start of this year. Generative AI is not an assistance, it is a replacement of work using stolen assets and aids in the quickening of the destruction of not only communities with intrusive data centers but also the planet. It is the great replacer. It is being targeted more and more in the way of human ingenuity and creativity. Someone can simply pick up a tool, generate whatever they want, and sell it as their own - off of the back of other people's work, without any understanding of what went into making it, how do actually do it themselves or why it was done. It is a poisoned chalice, and has no place in any creative endeavor.
