Greetings from the only place to be in the first 2 wks of Hawktober. Last night saw swirls of Tree Swallows dotted w/ Common Nighthawks, invaded by the occasional Merlin or Peregrine.

Sunset @ the beach w/ scattered clouds. The sky moves from blue @ the top to yellow, then orange along the horizon where the Sun sits as a half disc before disappearing into the sea. There are people on the beach silhouetted against the sky. Cape May Point is one of a few places on the east coast where the Sun sets over water, which is the Delaware Bay.

Kinda like us.

Picture of a very pissed-off Swainson’s Hawk being held after being banded. She is facing the camera w/ wings spread, human hands holding her legs and spreading her eight wing. Her hackles are raised and eyes are fierce.

I have waited my whole life for this.

on a tiny silhoullete of Coyote running away at full speed on the left, looking back @ the descending ball, which is emblazoned w/: Coyote vs ACME.

Excited to get a new (for me) species of long-horned bee in NEPA. Sorry about the iPhone picture.

Picture of an Agile Long-Horned Bee on a sunflower. The bee is @ abt 8:00 on the center of a large sunflower. It looks like a Honeybee but has very long antennae.

Omg. I have to knit one.

Wut?

Photo of a haddock. Presumably dead, lying on its side with wide eye and open mouth, it is still better looking than Elon.

Are u my mom?

An immature Northern Cardinal at a bird feeder cam: he is splotchy beige, orange & red w/ a mottled brown-red beak. Big beautiful dark eye looks towards the camera.

This is what convinced Bill Cassidy to support the current nominee for CDC Director? Capstone to your legacy, Bill.

Screenshot of “new” CDC webpage that basically says that vaccines could cause autism because no study has definitively ruled out that vaccines cause autism. Studies have not yet ruled out Jimothy as a cause either, but they don’t mention that.

Toucan @ the feeder.

Photo from a feeder camera. A male Grackle looks into the camera - a black bird with a yellow eye and large slightly down curved beak which looks much bigger because of the camera angle and wide lens.

Bloodcheep!

Picture of a molting male Northern Cardinal at a video feeder. He is facing the camera w/ head turned to the left. He is missing about 75% of the red feathers on his head, which reveals the black skin underneath as well as his auditory canal. He resembles Rosemary Mosco’s Bloodcheep comic.

Looking forward to Pope vs. AntiPope.

I thought it was the Jersey Devil

Not very good depiction of the Jersey Devil. Kind of a unicorn bat-reptile with a spiked tail.

WTAF. Extra AI digit and weird sky monster noticed.

Donald Trump, healer of white people, depicted as AI Jesus w/ white robe and red supplice, beaming a light at a old white guy’s head for some reason. He is surrounded by the Statue of Liberty, Bald eagles, an American flag, fighter jets and a weird troop of sky demons. A disembodied hand in the lower left corner has an incipient extra digit.

“Whadda you lookin’ at?” A Jersey Kinglet.

Close up photo of a female Ruby-crowned Kinglet perched on a branch surrounded by leaves. A tiny bird facing the camera w/ head turned to the left. It is mostly gray w/ a yellowish wash on the chest, has a small slender dark bill and an incomplete white eye-ring. Looks vaguely pissed and proud to be from Jersey.

Fine, I’m going this way. #birds

Black and white photo of 4 women, circa early 1950s. They are arranged in height order and are pointing handguns at the photographer. Behind them is a suburban 50s home. They are dressed in casual outfits and one is wearing pearls. They look serious, probably because the
