check this out: LA vs the US
Paired bar chart comparing how far the nation and Louisiana's U.S. House races moved from each presidential election to the midterm two years later. The numbers are points of the Democratic share of the two-party vote; positive means toward Democrats. Nation first, then Louisiana:

2004 to 2006 (first vote after Katrina): nation +5.5, Louisiana −1.2
2008 to 2010 (Republican wave): nation −9.1, Louisiana −9.3
2012 to 2014: nation −3.5, Louisiana −2.5
2016 to 2018 (Democratic wave): nation +4.9, Louisiana +7.3
2020 to 2022 (new district map): nation −3.0, Louisiana −4.8

Louisiana moved the same way as the nation in every midterm except 2006, and usually about as far.

A hypothetical 2024-to-2026 section applies a September 2026 poll showing the nation moving +9.1 toward Democrats. It shows three possible Louisiana swings:

If Louisiana moves less than the nation: +3.6, and Democratic Senate candidate Jamie Davis wins about 7 in 10 of the model's scenarios.
If Louisiana moves like past midterms: +6.4, and Davis wins every scenario.
If Louisiana matches the nation: +9.1, and Davis wins every scenario.

Dotted lines mark +1.9, where Davis's race is a coin flip, and +4.9, where Davis wins every scenario.

ok I'll go into detail... this is simulation uses modeled preference and turnout, trained on election and demographic data--not polling. if the vote ends up ~2 pts better for Dems than a typical year (either from people flipping or from who shows up) the race is a toss-up. at +5 pts, it's a lock.

I think part of why I'm inoculated to bullshit on this site is because I autoblock anyone following 10k+. When I tried to look at the guy who compared Platner to MLK, he was already blocked. Also seems to have changed his name to Wisconsonite?

Mad about how they’re doing Calvin? “Don’t get sad - get even.” The Constitution guarantees the people a right to petition our government for a redress of grievances. We, the people of New Orleans, have a major grievance. And we have the power to address it. Join us Monday to learn how.
