Yeah, the regional gas station cults that show up in this country are weird.

Cheating, but Tom Petty - Wildflowers. His second solo album.

I mean, I respect the choice, but I'd take The Stranger over Piano Man.

Ultimately, unless we get a *lot* more seats in the legislature than expected (or, at least, what I'm expecting), any policy difference between Hong and Crowley is mostly moot due to the legislature. I voted Hong but my preference over Crowley was not particularly strong because of the legislature.

The pick is Wildflowers, yes, but Full Moon Fever is *also* a great album.

This can't be understated. I work in MRI device development, and for all of the amazing things that go into it, what universally excites our clients is what streamlines the process - turns out MRIs are expensive to buy, own, and operate, and the more patients you can see, the more useful they are.

(Entirely different proposal than selecting officials by lots, though)

I used to claim, jokingly, that selecting Congress by lottery would be more effective than the current system. After earning the qualifications to teach statistics at the graduate level, the claim is no longer made in jest.

I'm around medical AI on a daily basis in my day job, and none of the important stuff is LLM-based.

David Bingham Brown @bingham.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
Yeah, I did a good chunk of my PhD on this, and many of the questions just utterly miss the point. AI (since we've stopped calling it ML for the time being) is revolutionizing a lot of things (and will continue to do so), but LLMs aren't where a lot of the exciting stuff is happening.

She spoke at Ebenezer, she's running. My way too early prediction is Beshear wins the nomination and picks her as his running mate.

After writing one paper with it, I found Zotero indispensable - if annoying to set up - but being in a LaTeX dominated publishing environment probably influenced that.

Like, not to dissuade any student from taking a more challenging class that they're interested in, but the reason you take AP courses is for more exposure to the subject, *not* to replace university classes.

When I was teaching computer science, the department had so little faith in AP credit that the class AP students got credit for was one that no one really took and was a pre-requisite for nothing.

Margin is looking huge as well; with 93% reporting the liberal justice is up by 19 points. Alarming thing for Republicans in Wisconsin may be that Waukesha County -- Trump's best country for *net* votes in '24 -- was Trump by ~20 but currently sitting at the conservative candidate up by ~8.

If the Kharg invasion happens, we'll find out what happens when the weapons used to attack American personnel have cameras built in, not just killing Americans but broadcasting their deaths to the whole Internet.

The Pentagon learned a lot from Vietnam - how better to control the narrative through control over embedded reporting and media being big lessons.

I think the most likely outcome is operational success (to some standard) *and* video of American marines mangled by FPV drones spread all over the Internet.

It's not just red, but part of the WOW counties (Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington) -- the far suburbs of Milwaukee -- where Republican statewide candidates tend to run up the numbers. Really bad for the GOP.

While Kentucky has taken a red swing recently (after Bill Clinton won the state twice), a lot of Kentucky Republicans have a libertarian streak -- it's not too surprising that Paul and Massie are two of the Republicans bucking the admin over this.

There's a reason I switched my PhD research from AI to testing. Software engineering is about to be a lot more about specifications and testing than it currently is. Engineers will be no less vital, but day-to-day responsibilities are going to shift over the next several years.
