but i HAVE found things that help!! 1. grip style. i naturally palm grip, so when i become aware of tension i force a switch to fingertip 2. fancy pinky: holy shit this is the best tip so far?? lifting the pinky breaks you out of death grip, and even as time goes on, keeps you aware of your hand!

three ways of gripping a mouse.
1. palm: whole hand is flush against the mouse
2. claw: the base of the palm rests against the mouse, but the fingers are curled so only the fingertips are touching it
3. fingertip: the whole hand floats above the mouse so only the fingertips are touching it

my adaptation of the fancy pinky to the palm and fingertip grip styles.

palm: the pinky floats while the rest of the hand is on the mouse. the wrist and palm still controls the mouse movement, but raising the pinky disrupts the all-encompassing palm grip around the mouse and forces the hand to relax.

fingertip: when i feel my thumb start to tense back up, i switch to the fingertip grip, but i keep my pinky fancy to help me build the habit. in fingertip style, i rest the tip of my pinky against the table, which helps stabilise my hand so i can more easily control the mouse with my fingertips.

(xpost) i trawled reddit and found two very intersting things i'm going to try: 1. keep arms closer to the body, not across the desk for support. closer is less strain on the shoulder 2. change mouse settings to a higher dpi and learn to control the mouse with just fingers. keep wrist planted!!

i was too scared to make the jump to a proper vertical mouse so i went halfway!! 😂 i use the mx master 3, i really like it and it's helped a lot already, but i don't know how it compares to an actual vertical one. really reeeeeally good to know another rigger (deathgrip too!!) finds them helpful 🥺
