One of the most effective PSAs, featuring an especially sobering Donald Pleasence.

Today's treat is watching a "content producer" go mad in real time as his preferred image regurgitator implements a vibe-coded mode of moderation that keeps timing out, even though he's only trying to get one usable image out of the same prompt again and again. Two rotten images in two hours.

I'm trying to teach myself to be a smidge more optimistic, at least at the level of my own daily concerns, which means I spent this morning's 30 minutes on the stair climber trying to get my hooks into the good things of the past few days to avoid getting dragged down into the mire.

Tomorrow looks like it will be a splendid day up here in Michigan, a grand day to swing by the craft fiesta at SVSU. And pay a visit to www.etsy.com/shop/luxdesi... , a place for keepsake ornaments and earrings for whimsical folk of good taste and good breeding!

I’d heartily recommend both @emily-jack.bsky.social and @warbeard.bsky.social . I worked with them both extensively on my RPG Chancers for a wide variety of human and humanoid characters. They’re both very talented and real humans!

One of the special perils of the writing life is having imagination enough to give myself the heebie-jeebies and also enough self-knowledge to understand that I will sleep very badly if I don’t investigate while there’s still daylight.

I'd recommend @emily-jack.bsky.social and @warbeard.bsky.social , who created lots of the art for the rpg I crowdfunded this summer. Both are dab hands at depicting a wide variety of folks. I didn't come across many art packs in my own hunt, so commissions and photos are central to my project.

Still a little bleary this AM, but this is my aspirational vibe for the day.

We've got a sizable spider living in the bathtub where I usually empty our dehumidifier. He's been there for over a week, and I'm always very careful not to drown him. Today I'm wondering if I can delicately relocate him, because I can't see what he's eating in the environs of the tub.

I think Living with Chucky is still my favorite horror documentary, but Hollywood Dreams and Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story, is right up there.

Today's tragicomic diversion is a photo essay in which a guy explains how he broke his addiction to AI smut. The highlight is reading about his belief that the pictures he generated were perfect matches for his ex, even as the images rapidly drift toward celebrities and/or cartoons.

My anxiety-management protocols lasted just long enough to see me through the last minutes of the campaign, on the off chance BackerKit did something strange or several backers opted to spontaneously withdraw. But we're on the sunny side of funded natheless, at $2619 out of $2500.

Just $9 (nine!) dollars to go! Someone please save us from the low-rent "marketing consultants" who send the same pathetic AI solicitation offering "help"! Backing Chancers is the karmic equivalent of kicking a techbro in the shin! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/b...
