Our rail network is full to capacity. Reducing fares would just make overcrowding worse; which is why projects like HS2 that add capacity are vital.

Labour gained power with a fall in their vote in 1964, 1974, and 2024. Labour lost power with a rise in their vote in 1924, 1951, and 1979.

Labour won 258 seats, and the Lib Dems won 57. 315 seats is short of a majority. Wouldn't have worked.

In Croydon, maybe. Who knows what the second preference votes would have been. The 2021 Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayoral election results shows the benefit of supplementary vote system more clearly

HS2 in full would relieve the West Coast Mainline, The Midland Mainline, The East Coast Mainline, and the CrossCountry route. Meaning even someone like me who lives in Exeter and might want to travel to York would benefit.

You're right. It's well known that courts and prisons aren't full up to capacity and can totally withstand more cuts to them. Great thinking.

The Caerphilly by-election suggests otherwise. The Lib Dems and Greens aren't really competing in the same seats. Lib Dem support is mostly rural, and Green support is mostly urban.

Yeah. I noticed that they state that the North West is richer than the North East and that the West Midlands is richer than the East Midlands, but they skipped out comparing the South West to the South East.
