Finally managed to get some writing done. Feeling a lot better today.

This has been a truly lousy week. Not looking forward to going back to the day job on Monday. Not sleeping well despite ME and attempted rest.

I bloody hate CFS. No energy to do anything right now.

A few decent low-budget British Horror movies I've seen recently: Beliath, How to Kill Monsters (comedy too, also got some great lines), and Alien Outbreak... (latter definitely reminds me of Grabbers).

I was offered CBT and graded exercise in my case. If you've high stress and anxiety, it's an Unholy Trinity.

I've written or contributed to over 60 RPG books in some shape or form. Wow.

Been catching up with old Babylon 5 episodes on Legend. Forgot just how many fantastic characters there were, and the quality of writing...

Sorting out my writing schedule, and also planning the move to Peebles in December... quite a lot to deal with.

We managed to sell all of All the Cardinals men all but two Musketeers vs. Cthulhu books from @nightfall.games at @tabletopscot.bsky.social. Thank you and goodnight!

The airport shuttle bus to Edinburgh airport from central Edinburgh is £8.50, return is every 15 minutes with comfy seats and 5Ghz WiFi. A train down to UKGE costs 10x that (if it even runs!). It'll be very different when I'm in Peebles!

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

I'll be at the GMS stand at @TabletopScot with the Nightfall Team. I might even sign some books!

The whole premise of my Cold Equations cosmic horror setting is what if a quantum LLM read the Necronomicon...

Finally got around to joining the British Fantasy Society. Might even get to Cymera next year....

Current gaming to do list: write campaign, get into Battletech/Alpha Strike, get arting, create Cold Equations SF Lovecraftian setting, create Death World setting, build wh40k Necrons, new adventure pitch, write adventure anthology. Visit TTS!

I'd like to visit Tabletop Scotland next week - it's my local convention - but I'm struggling to find enthusiasm for gaming right now. Love the writing of RPGs and social aspects but I prefer working a stall. Yes. It's odd.

Genius casting in ACME vs. Coyote regarding the head of ACME PR role.

Acme vs. Coyote wasn't going to be Kramer vs Kramer, Pelican Brief, or A Few Good Men. It was good fun though to see toons, and hear an audience laugh.

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

I think one of the hardest things about leaving Edinburgh is leaving the RPG and gaming communities here. I have found a games shop in Peebles, and I know there's a wargaming night. Having said that, I've not enjoyed RPGs for a while - playing or running...

050

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

Been a tough week but looking forward to the weekend and getting some more writing done. Also it'll be a January move to Peebles and a fresh start.

030

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

One of my favourite bits of writing in Musketeers vs. Cthulhu was La Vie Parisienne. It's a table of random events and conversations overheard by the Musketeers as they go about Paris. If you've seen the Lester Musketeer films, you'll know what I mean...

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

You'd think a 2-bedroom flat for sale in central Edinburgh, with a private garden and study, would have folk racing to view... but no. So infuriating.

130

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

Been a pretty intense morning finance-wise. On the plus side, my slipcase of Cold City/Hot War RPG from @handiworkgames.bsky.social has arrived!

031

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Your wh40k/Star Trek RPG campaign has turned in Red Dwarf. Your Vampire Chronicle has become What we do in the Shadows....Just go with it.

I definitely think we should send more millionaires to space/Mars. Doesn't mean I think they should come back...

120

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

So plans for my Cold Equations SF RPG setting, a Discworld game, and something CHILL-related are on hiatus until I move to Peebles. Know there are RPG groups in nearby towns, and a Wh40k one in Peebles. Fresh start time when I get there.

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

Danny Trejo may not be tall, but he fills a room.

020

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

CHILL definitely has potential for a "new" game for me. Love CoC but SAVE and the threat of the Unknown does have a lot of scope...

030

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

Watched The Calling the other night. Interesting cast, bargain basement Omen. Set on the Isle of Man...

020

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

Back to writing tomorrow. Successful day at work. For the first time in years, it feels more like a team - heading out for drinks Friday.

030

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

The Free League Alien RPG looks awesome, but how does it play as a campaign? Once the Xenomorph is in play, does the game become a one-trick pony? I'd get the fight against the Xeno infestation as Grunts, or colonists battle for survival, but it'd get old real fast.

240

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Back at work today after two weeks holiday. I'm already wishing it was Friday.

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

Rereading Pratchett and CHILL RPG sourcebooks. Still on holiday at this point, but have done some writing at least, and have found the origin of the Tarrasque! The Turtle Moves!

Bill Heron @billheron.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

When you're on holiday and realise you're that NPC. Or Aragorn.

Re-reading Pratchett's Discworld and laughing aloud at Moving Pictures. A much easier read than the Southern Reach trilogy, which I finished yesterday.
