why did manchester city's inaccurate financial information from 2009 do this

140

Bill DiFilippo @billdifilippo.bsky.social · 17h

i don't necessarily think that's an unfortunate reality! history and stories make sports more compelling, which is why the best stretch under silver was the one where it was the steph vs. lebron at the end of the year every time.

110

Bill DiFilippo @billdifilippo.bsky.social · 17h

in adam silver's ideal NBA the warriors would have gotten their title in 2015, gotten way too expensive, and at some point in the next few years they would have had no choice but to trade steph to, like, the pelicans. who on earth wants that?

040

Bill DiFilippo @billdifilippo.bsky.social · 17h

LRT: i continue to be baffled by the NBA's belief that fans whose teams don't do win deserve to be bailed out by constraints on teams that do win, with no acknowledgement of what the fans of teams that do win deserve. you're just creating more sports nihilists that way.

Parity is wonderful. But it's come at a cost, creating a league of perpetual change, with no room for affection, loyalty, or sentimentality. Latest from me, at The Ringer:

What Has the NBA Lost?

Dynasties are dead. Loyalty is a luxury. And parity is king. But is all this change really good for basketball?

would've liked to see more humility from pavlovic here. when asked this, he should have said "i find it appalling. because of their reckless cheating from 2009-2017, they should have to play in MLS."

rams OC is a matt campbell disciple who does a lot of the same stuff offensively penn state wants to do. a major difference is one offense is led by matt stafford and the other is led by rocco becht, who is 22 but somehow is in his KG on the celtics era.
