This one had me guessing last night for a while: White-marked Stilt (Calybites phasianipennella). Never seen one marked like that.

Nice surprise checking my garden traps traps this morning:- Jersey Mocha (Cyclophora ruficiliaria). I didn't take much notice of it at first, sitting at the back of the MV trap. It was only when I potted it to remove it that I realised what it was.

I think I've seen more Hummingbird Hawk-moths in my garden this year than previous years combined. Getting a decent photo though is another matter. I think this is the best I've managed so far.

Amazed to get this Sussex Emerald on the last day of a week's stay at Minsmere. It's a second county record for Suffolk

I wasn't expecting much when I checked the traps this morning so you can imagine my surprise and delight at seeing a pristine Bedstraw Hawk-moth (Hyles gallii) sitting in the actinic trap. A lifer for me and not one I thought I'd ever get in my Dagenham garden. @britishnatureguide.bsky.social

Two tiny very scarce moths caught today; Juniper Berry Piercer (Pammene juniperana) and Beautiful Juniper Piercer (Cydia interscindana). Both seemingly breeding in my juniper tree. @britishnatureguide.bsky.social

No sign of any migrants in my Dagenham garden this Autumn, in fact hardly any moths at all but I was surprised to see this Banded Honeysuckle Leaf-miner (Phyllonorycter trifasciella) sitting by the trap last night. With honeysuckle a couple of feet away, it may have only just emerged.
