Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Weirwood Reservoir late pm as light rain lifted. Not the hoped for osprey but Goshawk, Kingfisher, Sand Martin and some v noisy juvenile Great Crested Grebes was ample compensation #ukbirding #sussexbirding #birds 030
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Thanks for sharing this Bill. I remember watching the original as a teenager just getting into birdwatching. Wonder what the British big day record is now, and whether there’s a #LowCarbonBirding record? 010
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 14/08/2026My entry in worst photo of the Eastleach Long-tailed Shrike 👇 don’t know about you but I reckon it has a chance! Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 25/06/2026Hit 35C inland Sussex this heatwave afternoon 🥴 it’s uncomfortable for all ‼️ it’s a real health risk for some 🚧 a lot of basic infrastructure can’t cope … but we are heading for a lot more of this and worse. Drill baby drill eh? #climatechange 040
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 23/06/2026Thought the BBC pre-match interview with Stormzy was the best bit #ENGGHA and I’m 0/2 000

Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Happy to say I was wrong about #ENGCRO not just the score but that was a whole lot more entertaining than I expected 000
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 17/06/2026Hope I’m wrong but England 1-1 Croatia feels like an opening match kind of score #WorldCup2026 #ThreeLions #Somos26 #EnglandVsCroatia 100
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 15/06/2026Good week of North #NorfolkBirding. Best #RareBirdsUK was the Gull-billed Tern. Holkham Quail & Grasshopper Warbler were nice surprises, but best of all was just sitting under big skies at Cley & Titchwell watching Marsh Harriers swoop, Spoonbills sleep & Sedge Warblers rattle #ukbirding #birds 0120
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 13/06/2026Wonderful to sit still on the benches overlooking Patsy’s Reedbed at Titchwell. Bittern flew in, Marsh Harrier hunting a few feet from me. And that North Norfolk light 👌 #birds #NorfolkBirding #ukbirdong 0100

Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 30/05/2026Got this email from South East Water 🙄 who regularly fail to supply homes in Kent and Sussex in all sorts of weather. I don’t think paddling pools are the problem here - how about failure to invest in renewing infrastructure, lack of planning for #climatechange, poor management. 031
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 23/05/2026When we first moved to #SussexBirding in mid 90s a pair Spotted Flycatchers nested in churchyard. They were lost with huge general decline in the species. So this evenings albeit fleeting flycatcher in the village was special, first in >25 years; presume late migrant heading north with #heatwave 🪶 170
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Decided it’s too hot for birdwatching 🥵 so sat in the garden. Then had singing Firecrest and Siskin - both unimaginable here in May an even a few years back … and then garden tick Treecreeper. So with those plus overhead screaming Swifts the #heatwave birding wasn’t too bad after all! 🪶 #ukbirding 070

Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 20/05/2026Old Lodge, Ashdown Forest. The most Willow Warbler song I’ve heard this year. Vocal Cuckoo, Tree Pipit, singing Siskins. Sparrowhawk took a Linnet 10 yards in front of me then immediately harassed by another Sparrowhawk. The pair repeated a few mins later #sussexbirding #ukbirding #birds 050
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 18/05/2026Probably doesn’t have the colour pop to win the popular vote but the Gatekeeper will always be special to me: the first butterfly I stopped walking to study carefully and couldn’t identify immediately. How precious to be still in nature. #BritainsFavouriteButterfly @savebutterflies.bsky.social 030
Bill Stuart @bill-stuart.bsky.social · 18/05/2026Knepp: another birdsong feast: Nightingale, Garden Warbler, Redstart, Lesser Whitethroat, Bullfinch the 🎵 highlights.
