Folded over a chair my friend’s jacket dropped a pen. He had left to stretch and moan and nap between shifts. It rolled under a cabinet never to be seen again. I stared across the table eating horrid vanilla-less pudding. Our friends the droning beeps came from the air scrubbers and boops from the water filters. Like audio tennis beep to boop, filter to scrubber. Beep to boop. Beep to boop. Beep to boop. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. I was already napping when the game ended.
