Doesn't this suggest that all of the problems with using pentobarbital for lethal injections would also be present for standard euthanasia?
That goes perfectly into my next question. Can you talk about why the use of pentobarbital in lethal injections is, for lack of a better word, problematic?

Pentobarbital is the drug that we use in physician-assisted suicide and also in animal euthanasia. So one might think that it is a better drug for lethal injection than the traditional three-drug protocol that states were using all these years.

But what we know from autopsy studies is that the pH of pentobarbital, which is between 10 and 11, is chemically burning the delicate capillaries in the lungs, causing the capillaries to become leaky and the lungs to take on fluid.

This condition is called flash pulmonary edema, and it shows up, depending upon the study, in between 84 percent of all pentobarbital executions.

Flash pulmonary edema happens in seconds when you inject a drug into the veins. It goes first to the heart. Then to the lungs. So, as the body is trying to buffer that difference in the pH so that it can metabolize the drug and use it as an anesthetic, it’s already gone to the lungs, and that happens immediately.

Bizarre that the system is "we just really want to make sure trick or treating happens on a school night"
Currently, the model for Beggars Night is for it to occur on Halloween, unless October 31 falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If that is the case, trick-or-treating is planned for the Thursday prior to Halloween.

Seems like it was not born in the South?
In 1825, Kappa Alpha Society, the first fraternity to retain its social characteristic, was established at Union College in Schenectady, New York. In 1827, Sigma Phi and Delta Phi were also founded at the same institution,[5] creating the Union Triad. The further birthing of Psi Upsilon (1833), Omicron Kappa Epsilon (1834), Chi Psi (1841), and Theta Delta Chi (1847) collectively established Union College as the Mother of Fraternities. The social fraternity Chi Phi, officially formed in 1854, traces its roots to a short-lived organization founded at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey in 1824, bearing the same name.

Incredibly funny that wannabe autocratic Brooklyn Dem leader Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn identifies as the heir to Dessalines, who famously appointed himself emperor of Haiti, massacred all the French on the island, and was ultimately murdered by former supporters and torn to pieces by an angry mob.
For six years, I’ve sat in the center of what many call Brooklyn’s political game of thrones — a place where power is coveted, alliances shift overnight, and battles erupt without warning. Some joked I was the Mother of Dragons, holding fire in one hand and strategy in the other.

But I never entered this arena as a character in someone else’s fantasy. I entered as the heir of Jean‑Jacques Dessalines — the revolutionary who led Haiti to become the first Black republic and the first nation in the Americas to abolish slavery. His courage shaped me. His legacy taught me that stepping into Brooklyn politics would be a war zone. I stepped in as a reformer, determined to change the culture, not just survive it.

Wife: Have you got anything without spam?

Waitress: Well, there’s spam egg sausage and spam, that’s not got much spam in it.

Wife: I don’t want ANY spam!

Man: Why can’t she have egg bacon spam and sausage?

Wife: THAT’S got spam in it!

Man: Hasn’t got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?

Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)

Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?

Waitress: Urgghh!

Wife: What do you mean ‘Urgghh’? I don’t like spam!

Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!

Waitress: Shut up!

It's so funny how these people create this "liberals hate motherhood" strawman so they can say they're claiming a middle ground by wanting to both work and be mothers rather than just accepting that they're on the liberal feminist side of this issue
“I would love to be a stay-at-home mom, but I feel like a lot of times, girls are belittled for wanting that,” she said. Then again, she added, “On the right, there’s this idea that women shouldn’t work.”

She liked a “middle ground,” she said, “where it’s actually a beautiful thing to be a mother, but it’s also a beautiful thing to share your talents with a wider public spirit.”

Sounds like a fire themed Batman villain. Or a Republican congressional candidate
In an interview after his arrest, Aaron Farinacci said “fire is powerful, beautiful, and that things that go through fire experience a kind of rebirth,” Spokane County Detective Michael Drapeau wrote in a court filing Wednesday.

A 2025 comprehensive study by researchers at Brigham Young University found that, while a majority of older women stayed in the church, less than 40 percent of 18-year-old women did.

Guys you are constantly talking about how the Velaryons are going to be erased from history but they are still going strong by the time the books take place:
Robert's Rebellion

Lucerys Velaryon served as master of ships for King Aerys II Targaryen, being one of the king's bigger supporters against his son Rhaegar, the Prince of Dragonstone.[32]

After Robert's Rebellion, the new king, Robert I Baratheon, granted the castle Dragonstone to his brother Stannis. The Velaryons have been sworn to House Baratheon of Dragonstone ever since.[33]
Recent Events
A Clash of Kings

Lord Monford Velaryon answers Stannis Baratheon's summons when he crowns himself king and calls his banners. Stannis expects Monford will threaten to take his levies home unless they attack at once.[33] Monford's contribution to Stannis's royal fleet includes the large ships Pride of Driftmark, Bold Laughter, Harridan, and Seahorse.[34] When Stannis makes public the accusations of Joffrey Baratheon being born from incest, Monford states that only steel will decide the matter.[35]

It's understandable why someone would say something like the below in a moment of frustration just like it's understandable why someone who was just mugged might say something insulting about the mugger's ethnic group, but that doesn't make it true or a good thing to say

Am I misreading this or does Mazdak and thousands of his followers get executed twice in this explanation?
Mazdak was an ancient Iranian Philosopher, who believed the scriptures (Zoroastrianism scriptures, this was pre-Islam) dictated radical social equality. He thought all property should belong to everyone, and wealth shared equally. He was so convincing that he even convinced the king to go along with it, and was able to successfully implement many of his social reforms. He also believed in getting rid of clerics, because they held religious authority over the population, which he thought was illegitimate. Since they were the judges, he of course "lost", and was executed, along with thousands of his followers. As with most ages and societies, those with huge amounts of power and property have never been too keen on philosophers that want to take it away.

Eventually other rich and powerful Zoroastrian and Christian kings got wind of it, and challenged Mazdak to "debate" their clerics. These other kings were the judges, so naturally their guys won, and they brutally executed Mazdak and thousands of his followers. If Mazdak was a prototype for socialism, or even communism, I suppose you could say their reaction to it was a prototype for how to defeated socialism in the good old "marketplace of ideas".
