i really wanted to like it more than i did because the atmosphere was spectacular. i think more enemy variation was needed (not by mechanics, but by actual character design). i was just not blown away but i recognize the love put into the details, which i appreciated (even tho they crashed the game)

favorite parts of the game off the top of my head (vague spoilers): - ch3's medical puzzles were fun, tho the bigger enemies got tedious to circumnavigate - ch4 house w/ the different audio cassettes. very cool mechanic that i was impressed by. tho, that chapter had the worst lag - ch5. shotgun. 👍

the biggest issue ofc was the performance. my game crashed dozens of times & lagged significantly in certain areas. however, saves were generous enough that i felt i could start again without falling behind too much, though it did make it more frustrating to play knowing it could freeze at any time

immediate game thoughts before i let it marinate: i guessed the situation from the very beginning, so by the end i did not feel very impressed or engaged with the story. a decent chunk of sneaking was too tedious. very specific parts were fun & the sound design made the game feel very tactile!

i just think if you're gonna make it very Accessible to amputate your story by removing many npc quests without warning, you should have other avenues to relay the depth of your worldbuilding. otherwise why would i Care when it's so Empty

it truly is unfair to compare bloodborne to elden ring but i really do fear that playing er as my first fromsoft game has ruined me for its predecessors, especially the fighting mechanics. (we'll see how i fare in the souls games but i don't wanna think about that rn)

many thoughts, much to say. i'm gonna be patient & stick it out bc i Am curious + hoping that lore pieces start to click. there are things i genuinely like about the game! but i know that personally when i start to care less about lore & just want to get to the next checkpoint, that's a bad sign
