If Farke can turn that raw speed into intelligent movement and consistent final-third production, Leeds might have picked up a very serious attacking weapon.

160

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

For The Big Fish Theory, this feels like exactly the sort of transfer Leeds should be making. 21 years old, Champions League experience, frightening athleticism, positional versatility and still significant room to improve.

110

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Leeds get a full Premier League season to judge whether Bahoya can translate his frightening pace and dribbling into consistent end product before committing permanently. Both Leeds and Frankfurt confirm that the permanent element is an option to buy.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

There is obviously some risk. Four goals and four assists from 37 games last season isn't superstar production yet, and Premier League defending will be another step up. Leeds are buying into his physical tools and potential rather than signing the finished article.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Start him on the left and he can cut inside. Put him on the right and he can attack space behind. Use him centrally and suddenly Leeds have a player capable of carrying the ball through the middle rather than everything having to come from structured possession.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Bahoya's acceleration could stretch teams vertically and create the extra space Farke wants for his midfielders and overlapping full backs.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

From a Farke perspective, the fit makes a lot of sense. His sides want wide attackers capable of receiving high and wide, attacking the full back, making runs behind the defensive line and then rotating into the half-spaces.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

His Frankfurt career finishes at 78 competitive appearances, 7 goals and 8 assists, with 17 appearances across the Champions League and Europa League. He has also represented France U21 five times, scoring twice. This isn't a completely raw prospect

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Last season he made 37 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt, including eight Champions League appearances. Across all competitions he recorded 4 goals and 4 assists, with three goals and four assists coming in 27 Bundesliga appearances. At only 21, there is plenty of development still to come.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

But he isn't simply a sprinter. Bahoya is naturally comfortable from the left wing, where he can drive inside onto his stronger right foot, but he can also operate from the right, as a second striker or in a more central creative role. That versatility could be hugely important to Farke.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Bahoya gives Daniel Farke something Leeds have been crying out for genuine explosive pace in the attacking line. He has previously been clocked at 37.16 km, which at the time was the fastest sprint ever recorded in the Bundesliga. That is ridiculous speed.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

🐟 JEAN-MATTÉO BAHOYA IS A LEEDS UNITED PLAYER. Leeds have completed the signing of 21 year old French attacker Jean Matteo Bahoya from Eintracht Frankfurt on a season long loan, with an option to make the move permanent next summer. #LUFC #MOT

I don't think we are in much trouble of relegation and we now have three high ceilings for three young players, Trafford and muhoremovic being the other two. Him and James certainly evolve our counter attacking. I hope to see great things from him but I imagine it takes time. Glad to have LB cover

I mean yes I see your point but that's where we are at level wise. Rodon and Bogle have signed new contracts but also as Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal are not trying to sign them. For our position I think this is good back up and competition

000

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Elvedi might not be the glamorous signing that dominates transfer-window compilations. But he could be one of those signings supporters appreciate more and more once the season begins. A proper defender. A huge amount of experience. Already trusted by Farke.

210

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Farke wants defenders who are comfortable receiving the ball rather than treating it like a hand grenade. Elvedi has years of experience playing in possession-based Bundesliga sides and is comfortable operating on either side of the central defence.

100

The Big Fish Theory @bigfishlufc.bsky.social · 20/08/2026

Around 1.89m tall, with 70 aerial duels won in the Bundesliga last season, he gives Leeds another experienced defender capable of attacking crosses and defending set pieces. Alongside Rodon and Muharemović, that's serious competition.
