I’m hearing the menu music from Samba de Amigo for the first time, and some of the tracks sound so similar that it almost feels like Setsumaru is saying, “I’m the composer of Sonic World.” That makes me wonder where he got those E-MU Emulator samples from, since he doesn’t actually use an Emulator.

@phantomruby.bsky.social The tracks from Sonic Adventure 2’s Chao Kindergarten and Radiocase were composed by Setsumaru. Among the people who worked on Sonic Adventure 2, Setsumaru is the only one who uses the SC-55 and the Proteus MPS Plus Orchestral.

Jun has made some excellent Chao music, but people don’t know about it. That’s why some fans claim, “If Jun made Chao music, he’d definitely just make rock tracks with guitars!” They don’t realize that Jun’s musical range is much broader than they think. youtu.be/1H7ROM8mMVw

@phantomruby.bsky.social I think the Act Clear themes in the Sonic Adventure series were actually arranged by Tokoi rather than Jun. Recently, I discovered through NEWER VGM that SST owned The Real Drum Company Master Kit sample CD, and I also found that Tokoi used it in Sonic Adventure.

I've been listening to this game's soundtrack, and I could be mistaken, but as far as I know, tracks 11–16 were composed by SEGA Europe composers. However, I can't tell which of those tracks were composed by Richard Jacques. youtube.com/playlist?lis...

It should never happen that a creator is denied the credit they rightfully deserve while someone else is given credit instead, causing the creator to feel a deep sense of loss. I hope IDW and the reviewers involved will address and clarify this matter.

Some people claim that Jacques is only credited because Sonic Chronicles includes music from 3DB But if that were true, the other original composers should also be credited. On top of that, Richard Jacques himself has said that he worked on Sonic Chronicles So I don't think that claim is correct

After examining all of the sound banks used in Sonic Chronicles, I found that almost every track uses a different bank. However, the Main Theme, Green Hill, and Victory Theme all share the same bank. I think these are the tracks that were composed by Richard Jacques.

I think Maeda was responsible for developing the sound driver used in the Sonic GBA games and Yoshi Topsy-Turvy. If that's the case, it would explain why the same samples are shared across SA1 ~ Pinball Party, Battle ~ SA3, and Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, even though they have different composers.

The music for this game was made by Wave Master, and I think there's a very high chance that Maeda was involved. The reason is that several GBA games he worked on share some of the same samples, most notably the TRINITY brass and the JV-2080 organ. I think this game uses both of them as well.

In East Asian countries like Korea, Japan, and China, women have traditionally been expected to leave work after getting married and take care of the household, such as cooking, raising children, and managing the family budget. That's probably why we haven't seen Namba or Kumatani lately. 😭

According to a book written by Yosuke Okunari, South Korea was actually a country where Sonic was more popular than in Japan. And yet, in South Korea, Sonic was often treated as a 'dead franchise' for many years (though that perception has largely faded now).

I'm curious about when Jun bought the Alesis Ion and when he sold it. At the very least, I think he must have sold it before S4 EP1 . If he had still owned the Ion, I don't think he would have made a soundtrack where almost everything except the kick & snare came from the TRITON. He had one in 07.

This is just my personal opinion, but I think things like the addition of Chinese dubbing in CrossWorlds and collaborations with Evangelion and Godzilla are probably intended to boost Sonic's popularity in Asia, where the franchise has traditionally been less popular than it is in the West.
