as far as i'm aware (from a very brief dive on the hdg wiki so don't quote me on this), the haustoric implants greatly extend lifespan as the implanted sophont bonds with affini biology. as for reproduction when their stated goal is to bring EVERYTHING into the compact, uhhh... entropy negation?
