Hammering 94 replies into the front pages of Reddit, Twitter, and LinkedIn. I am very pious.
The "we should improve society/I am very intelligent" meme where the peasant says "humans can only make human art" and the insufferable guy days "I generated 95 responses proving you're wrong. I am very intelligent."

Somebody put an Everquest private server onto the Reticulum network. Seems like it doesn't work due to host becoming inaccessible. It looks like the new owner of EQ has been making takedown demands against private server hosting. The github for this project has been removed. LET ME IN, I WANT IN

I've gone 2 paths with it. First, the simple path. re.sub could easily do a 1 to 1 substitution, that was my initial thought and it's the first function implemented for the project, at the top here. It's standard and reliable. For some reason I also built search/substitution functions myself.
3 functions written in a file: text_sub that implements re.sub and text_find and modify_bracketing_text, that are homemade and much more convoluted

I've written the first formatting modifier. <u> isn't Micron code. Post text gets parsed and all HTML underline open and close brackets get modified into Micron format at save.

There also needs to be a post management back end. At the end of the video, I click on the link supplied by the test page, it goes to the newly generated page. I'll need to write a database that stores that link and other details, like tags or subject info, and presents a navigable post library.

NomadNet WordPress style blog post platform proof of concept! In this video, a page file (.mu) is generated based on title and contents of the page, what would be a blog post, are the contents of the text field, presented as typed except where dashes make Micron line dividers, showing formatting.

This morning, all chats have moved to asynchronous/auto refresh. I'll build out the ability to toggle it off to keep data down but most folks will want it on while using chat, I imagine. Video below shows several messages added from another client and the first message auto deleting asynchronously.

Holy shit! We're in business. The field can be manually grown and shrunk, scrolled up and down through what's off screen. It looks extremely similar to the WordPress text editor, which is just basic ass text. We can work with this!

I knew input method mattered and that what's been used so far, single line input, was inadequate. Started a little research and testing, getting a feel for what's available to get an idea for what's possible and the shape of what needs to be built. Found this:

Decided to try a wordpress-style NomadNet blog publishing project, with the experience & knowledge gained from the chat project. Funnily, the storage and data processing aspect, the difficult stuff, has been mostly worked through on the other project. Multi line text input seemed to be the hurdle.
A multi line text editor field presenting as a single line in NomadNet. No good

The app navigation is like Sideband plus Material You aesthetic. It's fine, though it feels more like Spotify than cyberpunk.

The BASH site landing page is pure Micron, rather than Python/Micron blend. This lackluster display of it leads me to believe the Columba parsing and display of Micron is incomplete/not updated. This is something that they can resolve with an update to their processing/handling and I hope they do!

Columba setup was easy, they supplied basic working Reticulum connection values out of the box to get it up and running. Adjusting to my own network settings was not difficult but app was initially functional through supplied values without it. I liked the "no reporting home" flavor offered.
No telemetry variant text from columba github reads:
Telemetry variants:
Each APK above also has a -no-sentry variant without crash reporting for maximum privacy — append -no-sentry to any download link above (e.g. the most common builds: Python arm64-v8a no-sentry). Sentry collects stack traces when Columba encounters errors
and provides helpful information to the developer to improve Columba, but is hosted at sentry.io, and is thus not the maximum privacy option.

columba is slick and pretty handy but doesn't format micron properly! it may be good for text only browsing but can't say it does any good for accessing our chat site, aside from browsing the public chat on the landing page. Login and registration are not functional!

It's live on the wider NomadNet. Been really pushing to get it usable, happy with the current state of it. Check it out if you're able to make it onto NomadNet. If you find it useful, you can deploy it for yourself on your own node/network.

Collective punishment wiki screenshot reads:
Collective punishment is a punishment or sanction imposed on a group or whole community for acts allegedly perpetrated by a member or some members of that group or area, which could be an ethnic or political group, or just the family, friends and neighbors of the perpetrator, as well as entire cities and communities where the perpetrator(s) allegedly committed the crime. Because individuals who are not responsible for the acts are targeted, collective punishment is not compatible with the basic principle of individual responsibility. The punished group may often have no direct association with the perpetrator other than living in the same area and can not be assumed to exercise control over the perpetrator's actions. Collective punishment is prohibited by treaty in both international and/or non-international armed conflicts, more specifically Common Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention and Article 4 of the Additional Protocol II.

When encryption was added, messages were still tied to username, as seen 4 posts above. We've now pivoted into randomly generated user_id for services instead. The user_id can be used to find the username at runtime. Added channel banner and moved navigation options to bottom.

cell phone access points still suffer from width crunch but it overflows into the next lines fairly neatly. here you see 10 messages on screen and the keyboard and header, too. 2 posts up, the same screenshot area was full of the unneeded ascii art and login info, crowding out messages. improving.

When logged in, the big ASCII logo is now swapped for a similarly color-coded, much smaller, nav bar. Trying to minimize the chat info bar as much as possible, too. Removed 2/3 of the logged in info lines as well, maybe I'll try and overload the one that stayed but it's already fairly crowded. hmmm
