There’s a lot going on at a prairie marsh, but I never expected to see a ballet performance! Usually when Soras have to cross a few feet of open water to get to another reed bed, they take the long way around and walk, or, they swim. This female Sora chose flying with an elegant toe point!

A Sora Rail flys a short distance over open water to get to the safety of another reed bed. The water is reflecting the green of the surrounding reefs and trees. The Sora is mottled brown with a vivid, yellow candy corn beak. Her wings are out and her yellow legs and long toes are very elegantly pointed
