JPP is doing the 2nd half of the French restream of last weekend's BBG 2026!

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Likely the best density of "Bad" we had was the two years @gildersneeze.bsky.social brought something like 20 asset flip tier games and did them all in a wild blitz of jank. Gilder made these games interesting enough to show with a cool gimmick. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShoE...

Like these youtubers/bloggers, we cut a line between actual worst and fun/funny/interesting. Just our line is far, far deeper in the bog. But no, if you call practically any AAA title "the worst game", come watch BBG one year. It'll shift your perspective!

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Real talk for a moment though: We can't even make an entire marathon of the true WORST. Because the objective "Worst" mainly falls into two categories: 1. Non-functional entirely 2. Unity/UE/etc demo assets smashed together into a "Game" and they're all the same

That's a wrap for BBG 2026. Thanks everyone! Your social media nerd is very tired. Words hard. BBG good though; runners and staff awesome.

I wrote an entire new content warning system just for the run that's on right now.

The BigBadGameathon stream overlay: a purple geometric design with purple borders. Zoomed in on one text element. An orange background with black bold and underlined text saying "Severe Eye Strain and Photosensitivity Warning. Take frequent breaks and avoid if you are photosensitivie."

Today is the day! In about 90 minutes we begin; get excited. Or terrified. Either works!

The interface of a point and click adventure game, or so it looks. The player is sitting in the back of a cab. The driver has turned out and is in the middle of speaking. The text on the image says "You Have Arrived"

The marathon staff and review team are about 75% VG preservationist and historian by volume. So even if it's not bad it *is* weird and a curiosity we may not see on marathon stages often and that's good enough for us!

The BBG review squad has been sequestered in the Dome of Questionable Games. When they emerge, if they see their shadow it means 54 hours of jank in September. It also means that if they don't see their shadow. Thanks for the amazing submissions everyone; we're thrilled at what we have this year!

0124

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Also if you missed it, we're extending our submission deadline out to Monday morning to get some last minute submissions in from folks who needed it. If you thought you missed your chance, you've got one more!

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Shoutouts to a sibling event who loves what they do and wants to share it with you all, just like us. A lot of the folks involved in Barbiethon have been involved with BBG too. A perfect thing to watch this weekend while we start digging into reviews for BBG :)

0115

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 29/07/2026

Hello hello! A couple folks have asked us if they can submit their runs to BBG a day or two late since a lot of people do these "speedrun" things on the weekends. We'll begin reviewing on the first, but if you get it in by Monday, we'll make sure it gets reviewed!

071

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

We're in the final week of submissions. If you're waiting until the last days (a lot of our runners do, no blame here!), it's time to start cranking those submission forms out! We have some really neat stuff to share already, but we're looking to keep our review team busy. There's room for more!

Send it in to *us*. We're practicing our English skip this morning. We're getting better. Last time we clipped out of bounds and ended up speaking Klingon for the rest of the day. What would Klingons speedrun anyway?

Big Bad Game-a-thon @bigbadgameathon.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

Happy SGDQ to those who celebrate! Do check out the silly block schedule for Thursday morning (US time). It's a big one this year! BBG submissions are open the entire month of July too; if GDQ gives you the speedrun itch, you've got time to polish a run and send it in to! Have a good week, all ♥

Hello jank fans. It was brought to our attention that half of BBG 2025 was missing from our Youtube channel. It was there but Youtube decided it was too janky and hid most of the VODs. Fortunately we're not about to let being too jank for Youtube stop us. This has been fixed, so enjoy!
