It’s party time at the wonderful Swiss Cottage Library celebrating the library’s 60th birthday on World Book Day! What a beautiful children’s library. Come and see it and the brilliant ‘Swiss at Sixty’ exhibition detailing the history of the library.

Engaging, informative, moving, thought provoking and at times hard to hear but necessary presentation about representation and diversity (or lack of) in children’s literature by @darrenchetty.bsky.social thanks for sharing and speaking so passionately at @librariesconnected.bsky.social

More brilliant flash talks about brilliant projects happening across libraries in the North East of England. Zine libraries, big community reads, green libraries and brilliant tech filled libraries. Great day at Newcastle City Library. Thanks everyone for sharing! @librariesconnected.bsky.social

Great keynote by @edjewell.bsky.social to open the @librariesconnected.bsky.social North East Conference. Followed by brilliant lighting talks from colleagues delivering pop up libraries, dementia support, death cafes and STEAM projects in/with/for communities. Really inspiring!

It’s a full house for the @librariesconnected.bsky.social North East Libraries Conference. It’s shaping up to be an inspiring and fun filled day with a quiz or two as well!

This job is great. I get to work with committed, empathetic knowledgeable people who are doing their (big) bit to support communities. I also get to travel lots. This week I gave a keynote in Liverpool, visited their amazing Central Library and today off to Derby for the ASCEL Conference. Hooray!

There are many great things about being Director, Libraries at Arts Council England. Getting to see the joyful Plyground programme in action at Kent’s Ashford Library then visiting the beautiful Amelia Scott is pretty high on that list! Great to share the day with @tabisw.bsky.social too!

Political literacy, yes! Great to hear about Greenwich Libraries’ work on supporting people to vote. Part of the Arts Council England supported programme of community projects delivered by The European Cultural Foundation. Would be great to discuss next steps more!
