Hi #PortfolioDay! I’m an illustrator with a focus on fantasy, history & narrative illustration. I want to illustrate more book covers with beautiful badass characters 🙏 🌎 www.kristinagehrmann.com 📩 info@kristinagehrmann.com

A female black-winged angel carrying a scythe staff. Her face is beautiful, but a part of it is blackened and mummified, and she lifts a black lace veil to reveal it. Her outfit displays a similar marring on her body: one of her hands is only bones. She wears her decay with pride as she regards us. Bats fly around her, their heads are skulls.

Blake and Rubi from "Dominion" riding on the back of a big orange glowing tiger. He has taken her captive.

Achilles and Patroclos, standing next to each other in front of a raging fire. Achilles is outfitted for battle and looks wistfully into the distance, while Patroclos ties some laces of his armor, also looking sad. Behind them and above there's the mosaic of a warrior in his chariot.

A young woman in a forest landscape, wearing adventurer clothing and carrying a sword. She stands confidently facing us. Behind her is a big wolf also looking at us. The wolf is surrounded by ominous black shadow shapes.

Hello there #PortfolioDay! My name is Bianca and I am a fantasy illustrator that focuses on bold and vibrant art. I'd love to work with more writers, game devs or TTRP fans and create some cool things together. My portfolio: biancabalanm.wixsite.com/portfolio E-mail: biancabalanm@gmail.com

Vibrant artwork of a green-skinned, purple-haired woman being embraced from behind by a yellow-skinned, pink-haired man. Behind them there is a thorny, chrome-effect heart.

Red-skinned, blue-haired man with his hands on his face, concealing most of it except for one pale eyes from which trails of tears flow upwards. Behind him there is a stained-glass window and ivy vines.

Character design sheet, featuring a marble-skinned muscular woman sitting on a vintage green chair, reading and drinking hot tea. The woman has golden kintsugi lines all across her body, arms and face and very long, grey hair. Behind her there is a rainbow-coloured magpie and at her feet there is a green spectral cat, with his skeleton visible beneath the furry skin.
To the right there are also three of her expressions, a smiling one, a displeased one and an unimpressed one.
The background of the image shows art nouveau stars, lots of colourful plants, books and papers, and a shadow made from open, yellow eyes beneath the armchair.

A greenish-skinned non-binary character shown in 4 different outfits, alongside several accessories (bags, hats, trinkets and bugs).
The character has curly long hair and is wearing colourful and quirky outfits, with funny details such as frog shoes, a fish tie and chicken badges.

My interpretation of the dark ritual of an adventurer seeking the path to lichdom (the binding of her soul into a philactery and drinking of the lichnee potion). #artsky #DnD #dungeonsanddragons

A young woman seeking to become a lich by creating a skull-adorned philactery and drinking a shining skull-shaped lichnee potion.
The woman has sickly skin and a scar across her yellowing lips. She has blue hair with two curls at the top and a lich rune carved into her forehead. She is dressed in a plain dress and a hooded cloak.
A trail of bluish-green spectral energy flows from behind her into the philactery, with three skeletal arms reaching to the vessel.
The background behind her looks ominous, with purplish fog and clouds and two gnarled trees.

I've amended this piece to fit the month of September for my series with these two 🗡️🏹 For this piece, imagine a hurdy-gurdy playing passionately in the background, the smell of freshly baked bread and the laughter and delight of everyone celebrating Lughnasadh. #sapphicfantasy #artsky #pride

Two women dancing during the Lughnasadh celebration.
One woman is holding another up in the air, one hand on her thigh and the other on her stomach. She is wearing a purple, blue and green jerkin with thigh-high leather boots, and has forget-me-nots in her hair. Her hair has grey streaks and is braided with colourful ribbons. To her hip she has tied a water gourd and a cursed vessel. She is laughing with delight.
The second woman has six arms and is throwing most of them up with elation. Her face is smiling and tranquil. She has long blue hair and a crown of flowers and leaves on top of her head. She is wearing a dark blue sleeveless dress with a purple high collar, a leather belt with straps, a metal clasp depicting two women entangled, a water gourd and a silver key. One of her hands is on top of the other woman's hand and another around her head, stopping at the ear.
Behind them you can see a room with wooden panelling and several stars braided from dry wheat and straw, as well as bells and red ribbons. The border shows flowers and hares.

Treating myself to a short rest after finishing this piece, rolling my hit dice and replenishing my spells for next time 🍵 #sapphicfantasy #cozyfantasy #cat

Artwork showing two women resting at a tavern during a snowy February evening.
The woman on the left is more muscular and has brown hair with grey streaks and is wearing a plain shirt, reddish-purple trousers and knee-high dark boots. Next to her, slung on the edge of the bench, is her teal jerkin. She has her arms crossed over her chest and is looking to the woman on the right with blushing cheeks.
The woman on the right has 6 arms and is slender and tall. She has straight, long blue hair and elven ears. She is wearing a dark blue dress with a hooded vest on top, socks and soft slippers. She is eating a bread roll and looking down at the silver cat at the bottom with an amused and loving gaze.
The silver cat has only one and a half ears and is trying to slink away with the head of the fish from the roast fish on the table.
The table is filled with bread, vegetables, roast fish, candles and drinking cups and pitcher, and the window behind it is framed by an intricate border.

Progress on this sketch I made to tackle every artist's Moby Dick: perspective ✨ So lucky that so many amazing artists have their teachings and art on the internet, learning so much. #digitalsketch #witch #fantasy #dnd

Black and white sketch of a beautiful woman with pale hair, eyes closed, wearing a hooded dress and holding a weasel. The background shows moody moors.

Partly rendered sketch of the same woman, now with colours added. Her hair is dark blue, her hood is a velvet black and her dress no longer attached to the hood. She is no longer holding a weasel, instead holding a lich philactery with three skulls on it and spikes at the top. There is a swirl of green spectral energy flowing towards it from behind the character, with three spectral skeleton arms depicted reaching for the vessel.
The background is now less water-oriented, showing a singular tree behind her.

Next for these two lovelies, February ❄️ In this sketch Zofka and Fien are taking refuge from the cold and snowy night, enjoying their favourite dishes (fish for Zofka and vegetables for Fien) and a well-deserved rest (as all of us tend to do in winter). #romantasy #sketch #sapphicfantasy

Sketch of two female characters sitting down at a tavern table, with the window showing a dark and snowy night outside.
The character to the left of the image is broader and has her arms crossed over her chest and her head tilted to look at the other character, cheeks blushing.
The character to the left is a slender, elven-like woman with 6 arms, head tilted down to look at a silver cat stealing the head from the fish on the table.
The table has a metal pitcher and cups, a cooked whole fish, bread and two bowls, one with vegetables inside it.

I've missed writing and making art of these two, so I'm planning to make one art piece for each month of the year, showing their blooming love and charming adventures. This sketch is for March: Zofka and Fien discover an Honesty Market Stall on their travels. #sapphicfantasy #wlw #fantasyart

Bright and spring-inspired artwork of two fantasy, female characters in front of a market cart, filled with vegetables, eggs and alcohol demijohns.
Zofka, the character on the left, is a 30-year-old woman with greying wavy hair. She is carrying a sack of oats over her right shoulder and has a delighted expression looking at the alcohol demijohns. She is wearing a bright pink doublet with big sleeves, a beige shirt, rose trousers and knee-high dark leather boots. To her waist she has strapped a sword, a water gourd and a rope with several banner sygils tied to it.
To the right of the image is Fien, who has pointy ears, 6 arms and long dark blue hair hair. She has freckles across her arms and a silver circlet on her head with two pieces of cloth hanging in front of her ear. She is wearing a turquoise dress tied with a pale belt, soft leather shoes and a pale, crowskin bag that she's opening up in preparation for getting some of the items from the car. She also has a coin in her hand to place in the Honesty Pot.
The border around them is spring peas.

She also has several accessories, piercings and black shorts. She is sitting on a pub table with her head in her palm.
The pub table has a stout pint on top of it and several writings and peeled stickers on the underside.
To the left there are 3 props:
-a pepper spray with a mouth spitting out the spray with the words: I said No!
-a pocket light made to look like a mimic
-a packet of bandaids.
To the right are her name, Bergamot, and her traits: wound Up, burned out, heartbroken, fierce, loyal and honest.

Sticker portraying a marble-skinned woman with golden kintsugi lines across her face and legs, wearing a red/pink robe with tassels at the bottom. Rays of light spread outwards from her abdomen and she is curled up to help with the period pain. Next to her is a spectral green cat, curled up and sleeping, with similar rays spreading outwards from his chest, as if sending love and comfort to the woman during her tough times.
Behind them there is a medieval arched window with a blue and purple background revealed through it.

The artwork of the marble woman and green spectral cat on varied merch (T-shirt, art prints, cards, pins and notebooks).

Photo of me and my boyfriend's family cat, Mr. Snuggles.
Mr. Snuggles is a moggy with a white face and dark lines across his forehead and body.
In this photo I am lying in bed with a hot water bottle in my armpit and my head supported on two cushions. I am exhausted from the period pain and sweaty, but feeling the love from my furry friend.

Marble-skinned woman with long, grey and blue hair and golden kintsugi lines across her face and legs; she lays curled in a foetal position to handle her period pain. Despite the pain she is smiling. She is wearing a red and purple robe with tassels at the bottom.
Next to her is a green spectral cat, Erebus, curled in a similar position, eyes closed. Beneath him there is a pink/red scroll that says Tender Loving Care, and beneath both the characters is a purple star.

Final piece for Women's Day 💪 Celebrating women's daily strengths, their kindness, their gentleness and empathy for those around them. #surreal #womensday #art

Artwork based on this quote by Ken Nerburn:
“Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance, and none can say while some fields will blossom and others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices in life no more easily made. And give. Give in any way you can, of whatever you possess. To give is to love. To withhold is to wither. Care less for your harvest than how is shared, and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace.”
The artwork depicts a marble woman with kintsugi lines across her body and face, flexing her arms, from which two children hang, one based on an owl and the other on a beetle. There are colourful flowers all around them and a sun shines warmly at the top.

Cooking up something close to my heart for Women's Day this year. Rendering phase next 🖊️ Based on the famous quote by Kent Nerburn 🕊 #surreal #strength #sketch

Coloured sketch of three characters under a bright sun, surrounded by different flowers. At the bottom you can see the words: We are all children of chance.
The centre character is Phea, a muscular woman made from marble with Kintsugi lines going across her face, arms and abdomen. She has pale hair, golden eyes and lips and is wearing a rust-coloured tank and brown trousers with sun and star accessories.
To the left of the image there is a colourful owl character hanging from one of Phea's biceps. The character wears a purple jumper with a butterfly and star pattern, as well as green shorts and red and white trainers.
To the right of the image there is a beetle child (hanging from Phea's right bicep) with short dark hair and horns. His skin is green and he has two sets of wings and is wearing jean dungarees, a dark t-shirt with bug patterns, green polka dot socks and beige sneakers with an eye and mouth at the front.

Next week's batch of Cheeky Tuesday sketches are inspired by well-deserved break time, be it a cig break during a tiring shift or a cheeky pint after the shift ends. February has been a busy month for everyone so now that it's almost over I hope you all find time to rest 💤 #sticker #sketch

Two sketches of characters taking a break from work.
First sketch is of Cam the copper man crouching in the alley behind the Thorn pub and taking a smoke break. He's dressed in his work clothes, dark t-shirt and trousers, and has Erebus the green spectral cat sat on top of his head. Next to him he has a used beer barrel and crates of empty beer bottles.
The second sketch is of Harry the pub owner holding a pint of beer and giving us a thumbs up.

Somehow I managed to finish this in time for Valentine's✌️so: Happy Valentine's from this troublesome couple 💛💚 Remy and Bergamot were once deeply in love, but after Remy accidentally dreamt up Mori their relationship strained. Nowadays it's one argument after another. #love #fantasyart

Two characters stood in front of a chrome heart made of thorns.
The female character is based on the Bergamot plant and has curled purple hair with an undercut and green skin. She is wearing golden thorn-inspired jewelry and a gray distressed vest with holes and tears at the collar and near the chest. She also has a bee ring and long nails and is holding a cigarette.
Embracing the female character from behind is a taller male character with yellow skin and pinkish-red hair swept up and trailing upwards into a cloud. He has a sorrowful expression and is wearing a teal jumper with heart-shaped cutouts on the chest and shoulders. He also has earrings and a beaded necklace.

Remy's romantic relationships are all complicated... Remy🎨xMori🦇: the neon, drunk, passionate love that only nighttime nourishes. #digitalart #fantasyart

A man whose skin is made of swirling colours similar to a paint drip. The colours are mostly reds, oranges and pinks, with flecks of greyish blue, yellow and green to show a hint of sickness from all the drinks.
In his arms he has a fun vampire that feeds off his colourful blood (which she has in her left hand in a plastic cup, similar to the plastic cups you get at the end of the night in a pub/club). The vampire has cute, pale hair and is wearing a blue top and skirt and pink gloves and tights with holes in them.
Behind the two there are pink, neon hearts.

Zofia is an older muscular woman with pale skin on which she has lunar scars. She also has long brown hair with greying streaks and wears a yellow sleeveless top, a blue skirt, banner symbols tied to her waist, as well as a pearl and fish necklace and a crystal necklace.
The Exarch has light purple skin and a skull head with a glowing blue eye. It also has several clawed and skeletal hands sprawled into a wing and on the other side one holding a scythe made from a ribcage that ends in a blade with the stages of the moon depicted on it. The scythe also has an eclipse orb at the end. The Exarch wears an abyss crown and a starry cloak.
Behind them there is a starry night sky.

Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

Guillermo del Toro quote "...think about wealth for me for example. A wealthy man that has enough..."

"not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite somebody to beer..."

"...you're rich. If you have, whatever-"

"- yachts and planes and islands and you STILL need more? You're not rich."
