And now, you can find changelogs directly in Hubble to cheer on the community! "See what's new" after you update, or find in the ⌘, settings menu at any time hubble.md ⬇️

Big moves: Hubble now has a search palette! ⌘P to find files by name or by content. Huge shoutout to @zcuric.bsky.social for PR-ing this. Codex and I had basically no notes 😄

"Chat with this note" is fully customizable too. Go to Settings (⌘,) to set to your favorite agent CLI, model preference, and initial prompt
"Chat about this note" setting with a prefilled, editable command: `claude --model sonnet "Read $HUBBLE_NOTE_PATH and help me with it"`

The Hubble.md notes app now has a built-in terminal 💽 - Run your favorite agents to work with and organize your notes - Use "chat about this note" to hop in a conversation with that file straight away - Rename terminal tabs for easy tracking

Update: Hubble now runs on Windows! Took multiple hours on a Friday night to set up a VM on my Mac to test... but we got there 😄 Shout out to saucy-tech for making the PR! Works on x86 and ARM.

Just shipped Hubble v0.1.14: - We support Linux now! Works for x86 and ARM devices. Shout out to @israelferreira.dev for the PR 🙌 - You can zoom the app window! Yes, we launched without it, but it's here now 😄 - You can add folders, and type nested paths to generate in a chain

With the /create-html-app Skill, an agent can build mini-apps with live access to your data, themed to look nice with built-in Tailwind design tokens. - Build indexes that live-update as you take notes - Build todo lists or kanbans backed by files on your machine

Hubble's great for anything Markdown, from building knowledge bases to collaborating on agent Skills. The editor autosaves and live-reloads, making it easy to collaborate with an agent. Used it just now to patch Hubble's skills before launch!

Introducing Hubble: the best notepad for you and your agents. - Feels like Notion or Apples Notes, but for Markdown - Live-reloading editor to collaborate with agents - Supports HTML-based apps to build interactive visualizations Free and open-source 👉 hubble.md

I was getting really annoyed with TipTap + Prosemirror, so I decided to give Slate a try. ...Man, where has this library been my whole life 🥹 This bulleted list demo took me weeks to get half-working in TipTap. In slate, it took a couple hours (with Codex's help).

I used @convex.dev to build a file sync service, and it was surprisingly simple. ✅ JS CLI + the chokidar library to watch for file ops ✅ Asset upload / download APIs built-in to Convex for images ✅ Uses simple data tables with soft delete for Markdown files Fun weekend hack. Would you use it?

Yep, modes are always a tough one. We have more granular settings for this now, but you *can* also try enabling "autodetect" to pick the mode for you. You might've turned it off bc of past performance, but we've been improving accuracy

Playing with some interaction animations. Have some tuning to do, but I like the spirit of a snappy "bounce" animation. Want to bring that to other animations in the UI. Shoutout to @nerdy.dev's Open Props for spring transitions

This is inspired by Typora, which weirdly defaults to base64. Had to ask GPT before realizing it was configurable! I want to mirror these options, but more clearly call out with a toast where images go and how to change the setting
Dropdown menu of image handling options with ‘Copy image to ./${filename}.assets’ selected and choices to copy to ./assets, the current folder, or to choose a custom folder. At the top is "no special action"

Markdown editors rarely get image pasting right, so I tackled that early for Hubble. ✅ Images paste to a file instead of base64, under FILENAME.assets/. This will be configurable ✅ Pasting the same image twice resolves to the same file name ✅ Original resolution is preserved

Okay, frontend is officially solved. Thanks chrome devtools
Context menu from Chrome DevTools showing options “Badge settings,” “Store as global variable,” and “Debug with AI,” with “Debug with AI” expanded to a submenu listing “Start a chat,” “Assess visibility,” and “Center element” against a light UI background.

So many editors get the hyperlink popover wrong, so I fixed it. ✅ Show a link preview on rollover. Esc to dismiss ✅ Click or cmd+k for a menu of options, with keyboard shortcuts for every button ✅ Use esc to go back to editing Fixing markdown editing one function at a time!

Progress: I added link support to my Markdown editor, but with a twist: ✅ [brackets] are in-line, but the link goes in a popover to minimize layout shift ✅ Shortcuts! ⌘K to focus, ⌘⏎ to visit, ⌘⇧C to quick copy Having fun sweating the details :)

Alright, I'm reviving my markdown editor 🙌 Codex is too good for me to leave it shelved. I animated the cursor, and implemented "rollover" so marks like `**` only appear when you need them. That said, I made a tweak: Deleting the `**` deletes the matching `**` like JSX tags

I wanted to add transcription to my notes app, but I wanted to do it differently. What if while you're talking, an agent can answer your questions as they come up? In this UI, we transcribe on the bottom and answer your questions on the top. At the end, we format it all as one nice note ✏️

A lot of developers are using agents to write their code these days. I was a hold-out... but Claude Opus 4.5 finally cracked me. So I made a video walking through how I write code with agents end-to-end. We'll talk plans, rules, and everything else in my setup. If you're a skeptic, this is for you!

For the past few weeks, I've been working on a notes app to organize my life better. Here's a new concept: "organize" view: - See everything you wrote down since the last time you organized - Delete, archive, or copy to a related note - Edit if you need to Watch the progress until you're done ✅

When it comes to error handling, Swift is what JavaScript should've been. Here's why!

POV: your engineering manager can hear your thoughts
• omg that’s spot on

Considering implementation request
User feedback seems like they’re implying that they’d like us to implement it. They seem happy, and are likely wanting us to implement this, even if they didn’t explicitly say “please implement.”
We should be proactive in cases like this. Since they asked for a proposal before, this is likely where we check in with them re: implementation.
Want me to implement that change now?

Learning SwiftUI as a longtime React user. First thing that really stands out: `.task` Basically, you can attach an async function to any piece of UI, and it'll run anytime that UI mounts. Useful to, say, set up a Convex subscription and store data as state. Clean 👍

Yeah I tried that here, but it loses the feeling of a book opened on a table. Before and after here. Not saying you're wrong about that (my intuition says the navbar is too bright). I just can't get the feel I want doing it "right" yet. Need to try things

I still vibe with this problem, but I don't like the solution anymore. My goal is to build a notetaking solution that's as easy to use as apple notes, and as powerful for organization as Notion. And I think that means a whole new app. And, yes, AI. Rough sketch of a "smart search" mechanism:
“Wireframe mockups showing a note-taking and search interface for an app called Hubble. The main panel contains a search bar, note list (Today, Yesterday, Sunday), and a conversation area where AI retrieves saved shopping links related to a move (oak coffee table from Wayfair, bedding from Amazon, bedframe from Amazon, TV stand from Wayfair). Two buttons appear: ‘Save to note ⌘N’ and ‘Move to sidebar ⌘⇧S’.
Two example flows branch from this:
	1.	‘Shopping links for move’ note, showing extracted shopping list in the left pane and conversation in the right pane, with instructions about creating a new note from search results.
	2.	‘Newsletter’ note showing a text draft in the left pane and shopping link results in the right pane, with instructions about moving the conversation to the sidebar.
Purple annotations describe behaviors like automatically moving conversations to the sidebar when clicking notes, Hubble’s searchable note access, and benefits of extracting images from websites.”

🤯 What, Chrome has an AI summarizer API built in now?? - No API keys, no internet. Runs locally - Downloads the model on-demand - Available as a global in the latest version of Chrome. Works in chrome extensions too I have so many chrome extension ideas now...
