Huh. I wonder how that got there?
The Atlantic's list of examples of people overdoing ethics in the late 2010s with "Staffers at news outlets revolted against colleagues they deemed counterrevolutionary" underlined

Henry Cavill is Duns Scouts concept of univocity (ie Good and good are the same good) and Jason Momoa is the analogia entis (ie when we call God's goodness 'goodness' it is because of its resemblance to the goodness we know from everyday life but not because they are the same).

Momoa stalks Cavill as though to tackle him as Aquinas's theology tackled Scotus's. AI enthusiasts ought to beware the risk of their tendency to say that a person generating speech and a machine generating text are both the products of thought because my thinks are not their thinks, neither are their ways my ways

Very interesting from M de Montaigne - Apology for Raymond Sebond He is talking about people getting carried away with anti establishment feeling in the wake of Martin Luther, but it reminds me of accelerating conspiratorial mood on TikTok this decade (public health and the government, mostly)
Page of Montaigne - Apology for Raymond Sebond with sentence circled in red:

For the common people, unable to judge things for themselves, let themselves be carried away by chance and by appearances once they have been given the temerity to despise and contradict the opinions they had held in extreme reverence

Now hidst thou seen along that crowded shore
The matrons running wild, their festal dress
A strange and moving contrast to their grief;
And through the city, wander where thou wouldst,
The men half armed and arming -- every where
As roused from slumber by the stirring trump;
One with a shield, one with a casque and spear;
One with an axe severing in two the chain
Of some old pinnace. Not a raft, a plank,
But on that day was drifting. In an hour
Half Venice was afloat. But long before,
Frantic with grief and scorning all control,
The Youths were gone in a light brigantine,
Lying at anchor near the Arsenal;
Each having sworn, and by the holy rood,
To slay or to be slain.

A three panel cartoon: In the first panel, we are facing a man in a yellow sweater and a red tie sitting on a bed, holding a gigantic blue book. In the second panel, the perspective shifts and we see over his shoulder that there are no words on the page of the book he has turned open to. In the third panel, we zoom tightly on the man's face, text along the bottom of the panel says, Damn, I wish I could read

A bit of a scene from Mary Poppins. It's towards the end of the movie, Mr Banks has walked in on a room full of chimney sweeps dancing in his hallway. He exclaims "What's all this?"

Classic classism

Page from the Very Hungry Caterpillar. The caterpillar walks away from leaf. Leaf has four holes punched in it. Text reads: The next day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better.
