Hidden in Spoonley Wood near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire are the remains of a Roman villa. It was excavated and heavily restored in the 1880s, but since then nature has returned. Today, its mosaic floor is protected only by a tarpaulin and overgrown corrugated iron shelter #MosaicMonday
The overgrown ruins of Spoonley Wood Roman villa, with a corrugated iron sheet over some of the remains.A heavily restored Roman mosaic. Although it is rather muddy, a pattern of red and black tiles can be seen, with a circular motif inside a square frame.
