It’s so funny that the money people are fanatical about ai and ai only. I see how it would seem like a cool thing if you’d never had an authentic experience. But you know what else is like that? Laser tag.

“Mistakes in wars” We killed a million Iraqis. MISTAKES. IN. WARS? And anyone talking about unity after 9/11 didn’t know any Muslims. Hell, my father is exactly 1% darker than a truly white person and he used to get dirty looks in the grocery store.

It's finally happened: the improved quality of machine transcription and the greater ability to extract value from unlabelled data means "your tech is eavesdropping on you for marketing purposes" has crossed from "false conspiracy theory" to "true and concerning" www.theverge.com/tech/991190/...

The Canadian approach to financial transactions is to allow everything, process the charge, and then mark it as fraud and cancel payment. It’s so fucking stupid. It’s like they don’t know computers can do that in a fraction of a second. Can you use Apple Pay? Yes! Do they accept Apple Pay? NO! FRAUD

Actually nevermind. I read the thing about centrists allowing gay marriage and now I’m thinking about everyone who died scared and alone from AIDS and what the brave centrists were doing for the cause then and I might put my entire body through a wall. Fuck.

Well, what I always say, "I just want everybody to be treated good." I try not to get into the politics of everything. I try to get into the human element of it. I have some of everybody in my own immediate family and in my circle of employees. I've got transgender people. I've got gays. I've got lesbians. I've got drunks. I've got drug addicts — all within my own family. I know and love them all, and I do not judge.

And I just see how broken-hearted they get over certain things and I know how real they are. I know how important this is to them. That's who they are. They cannot help that any more than I can help being Dolly Parton, you know, the way people know me. If there's something to be judged, that is God's business. But we are all God's children and how we are is who we are.

Maybe this is a bonkers way of thinking about it, but here goes. I’m a little too old for Shrek to have influenced my romantic life. The closest equivalent would have been Beauty and the Beast. At least in this new iteration, the weird looking guy is nice to the young lady the whole time.

Comic panel of Donald Duck and a wide-eyed young Mickey Mouse. Donald's speech bubble: "Democrats should do a huge middle class tax cut to address affordability." Mickey's speech bubble: "Fool that you are, for you treat taxation as a burden rather than the means by which our burdens are eased. Behold a civilization rich in private wealth yet starved of public provision, where every man owns what his grandfathers could not imagine and yet trembles at the thought of how he will weather an illness or loss of livelihood. Will you fight for an affirmative vision of broad contribution and universal benefit? Or will you perish like a dog?"

Someone in my close friend group from childhood just transitioned at 41. I’ve never seen her so happy. I wish circumstances had been different so she could have been more fully herself for her whole life, but it’s been a real honor that she let us truly see her. And I think it’s made us all braver.
