A lone oak and the Milky Way. #BlueSkyArtShow #Lights #photography #astrophotography #milkyway #art #nightsky
Night landscape photograph. A single large oak tree stands in silhouette on the right, above a dark meadow and a line of trees on the horizon. The Milky Way cuts diagonally across the sky from the upper left down toward the tree, its bright dusty core glowing just behind the branches. Thousands of stars fill the rest of the sky.

I thought I'd never be able to capture this faint #astrophotography target but then I discovered the wonderful world of Newtonian scopes 🙂. This is the Bat (SH2-129) and Squid #nebula (OU-4) after 20h of integration time, shot from my backyard. What do you see @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
The Bat nebula (SH2-129) showing red colors from the H-alpha emission line, and the planetary nebula called the Squid nebula (OU-4), recently discovered, emitting in the OIII line. This is the result of 20h of integration time. Details of the capture are on Astrobin : https://www.astrobin.com/vc8zxk/

Thanks a lot, Phillip! It was a close one because my session was abruptly ended at 2:30 AM due to cloud. Luckily I had already captured about 30 min each for RGB so with the following 3 hours Lum subs until the sudden break it was just enough to process a decent image 🍀☺️

IC 5076 captured from my patio on four nights in August 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 24 hours in mono using a QHY294M cam and combining LRGB and Ha narrowband data to enhance the background. #Astrophotography @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social‬ what do you see?
IC 5076 is a beautiful blueish reflection nebula which is illuminated by the hot blue supergiant star V2140 Cygni. It’s located in the constellation of Cygnus at an estimated distance of about 5,700 light years away from Earth.

Haha that’s a faint one, but I’m generally in the upper range of integration time for my projects anyway. I somehow developed a habit of picking really tough targets lately 🤷‍♂️

Thank you so much, Rob ! 🙂 When I come across an interesting target somewhere e.g on social media or on AstroBin I add it to my target list provided it isn’t out of reach from my place. Then I pick a suitable target from that list which has a good time frame for imaging when I have clear nights 🤓

MWP 1 - The Methuselah Nebula captured from my patio on eleven short summer nights in July and August 😊🔭 This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 40 hours in mono with Ha and OIII narrowband filters and combined with RGB stars. #Astrophotography
The Methuselah Nebula is an exceptionally large ancient bipolar planetary nebula and therefore it’s very faint. Despite the long integration time the signal was very weak and noisy so processing this object was quite challenging!

MWP1 is located in the constellation of Cygnus at an estimated distance of about 4,500 light years away from Earth.

I held back a bit on the colors and saturation. Next time, I’ll definitely experiment a bit more with the colors and saturation.

The images were taken with a Canon EOS 750D DSLR, paired with a Sky-Watcher Explorer Black Diamond N200/1000 (Newtonian telescope), mounted on a Sky-Watcher NEQ5 mount.

NGC 6979 Pickering's Triangle (SHO). Astrophoto by Beatrice Heinze (Processing) & Telescope Live (Data).

This Nebula, a supernova remnant, is located in the constellation of Cygnus (The Swan).

I processed the nebula in SHO, the Hubble palette. In the end, I experimented a bit with the colors, and that resulted in this electric look.

The following software was used:
Astro Pixel Processor (stacking); PixInsight (processing), and I did the final touches in Affinity V3.

Telescope: Officina Stellare ProRC 700 (70cm/27.5 inches) F8 - RC design reflector telescope

Location: Oria, Spain => Bortle Class 1

Total exposure time: 7 hours.

Thousands of stars are playing hide and seek in this 🔭📷 #astrophography of the dusty surroundings of LDN1082 🤩. 12 hours of integration shot from my backyard, supervized from my couch (feeling kind of fancy with a remote setup of my own ☺️). Can you plate-solve this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?
Astrophotography of LDN1082, a dark nebula made up of dust. Thousands of stars of various colors play hide and seek with the dust that thins off as it gets away from LDN1082. 12h of integration time over three nights using amateur equipment was necessary to bring the fainter wisps using : a Skywatcher Quattro 200P Newtonian, a Player One Poseidon-M camera, Antlia V-Pro LRGB filters.
