A great segment from PBS yesterday about window collisions and urban bird life! The segment starts at the 16m13s mark in the video, and talks about the dangers windows pose to birds, and effective methods to protect their lives youtu.be/OO4AP-4IttY?... #birds #conservation 🪶

Kitchener has voted and our official city bird election 🪶 has decided a winner! We're in our cute, underrated sparrow era. Some cool stats about the vote: - 1265 votes cast - 10.3% Killdeer - 17.5% Chimney Swift - 27.1% Merlin - Our winning Dark-Eyed Junco took it with 45.1% of the vote
Photo of a Dark-Eyed Junco, a bird with a pale belly, a pink beak, and slate-grey body, head, and wings. Around it is a frame which says: "And the Winner is...THE DARK-EYED JUNCO!" The Bird Friendly City logo for Kitchener is in the corner.
