#OnThisDay "1987: Digital RDS car radios were featured on Tomorrow's World. Motorists had to endlessly tune NO more!" I worked on this broadcast: the technology behind it required us to simulate Radio Kent & Radio Cornwall reception *inside* TV Centre, where their signals were not receivable!

I saw that one too - next to the Environment Agency road - growing off a dried back main stem. Almost certainly the last of the year...

#WildflowerHour I guess this is Wild Clematis/Travellers Joy (Clematis vitalba) at Rye Harbour on Friday afternoon; with no obvious broad petals (x4). @bsbibotany.bsky.social
Essentially white flowersSeed development (reddish colour) with hairy "flights" that will develop into "Old Man's Beard" fluffiness.

Umm, I'm wondering if listening to the depicted Sequoiadendron giganteum would render any sounds through it's very thick fibrous, sound attentuating, bark?

Maybe if they did, their presence would impact the gov reorg that's talked about, which would yet again absorb Rutland into the East Midlands Mayoral authority area. Thus abolishing the indigenous population's elected local government... and the Rutland name being eradicated.

I don't care, either - except their/journalists annoying use of the "Sussex" title. As a long term resident of East Sussex, for me, they have no relevance. Certainly if they choose to live in another county.

A WEX advertising email to me today declared it is: "World Photography Day", so attached my very small contribution. How else would such an apparently mundane picture be published? Yet I really enjoy the Dungeness landscape as my screen saver.

#WildflowerHour 1mm diameter grapes - no: actually Lesser Swine-cress (Coronapus squamatus). Initially tastes very sweet, a bit carrot like, but a strong peppermint flavour lingers on the tongue. Hand to give scale! @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Well done, we had a similar motion carried in 2025-Sep by Rother DCt; but what legislation do you have to support the motion?

bevm1066 @bevm1066.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
FYI - our local UK District Council passed a motion (believed to be a UK first) on "Rights of Trees", in 2025-Sept; but the arcane legal system makes it v. difficult to support with legislation to ensure the motion is actually undertaken widely.

To me this is THE fundamental flaw of today's UK politics: the "who does what" confusion in many voters understanding of what the candidates can represent them to deliver. Not helped by total lack of educative effort by the highest level politicians.
