A text-based Wuxia game sounds interesting! Are you planning to build the world first, or work on the story and characters alongside the mechanics?

Honestly, three weeks sounds well deserved after finishing a thesis! What kind of projects are you thinking about picking up once you’ve had a chance to recharge?

Ohh, got you! A game project sounds interesting though. What kind of game are you thinking of making, and do you already have any story or characters planned out?

That’s great! Having another reader before the final edits sounds helpful. How far along are you with the collection now?

That sounds like a great setup! Having a trusted group to trade manuscripts with must make the process a lot more enjoyable. How far along are you with Book 2 now?

The difference is real. What are you working on right now that you’d actually want someone to play or look at?

Ahh, got you! So the press handles the editing side. Are you planning to have any beta readers go through Book 2 before it reaches them?

Congrats on finishing the final draft! Are you already working with beta readers, or are you still looking for a few?

Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
That’s exactly why a break helps, you can actually spot things you missed before. Are you planning to have anyone else read through the collection before publication?

Draft 3 is a big milestone! The romantasy concept sounds intense. Are you planning to have anyone read it before you start Draft 4?

That’s exciting! Getting halfway through Book 2 before looking for an editor makes sense. What’s the vibe of the series?

Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Haha, the “I need an editor” struggle is real. Are you working on something right now that you’d want another pair of eyes on?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I get what you mean. Sounds like you already know an editor would help bring the ideas together. Are you working on a specific piece right now?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I completely get that. It’s always helpful having someone who can look at the work with fresh eyes. Are you working on a specific piece that you’d like more feedback on right now?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I get that! What part of writing do you feel you need the most help with, grammar, structure, or polishing the story?

Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Congrats!! Book 2 is officially done! Are you planning to self-edit first, or bring in someone else for the editing stage?

Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Happy birthday! You’ve got a lot to be proud of, especially two novels at different stages. Are you planning to get any outside feedback on either draft?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
70K words polished is a lot of work! Are you planning to have anyone read through the finished pieces and give you some outside feedback?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
That’s a huge milestone, you’re almost there! Once the thesis is finally done, are you planning to take a break from writing or move on to another project?

I’d love to read this! The first-draft stage always makes me curious, how far along are you with the whole story?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
I’d love to read this! Sounds like a fun one to dive into.

Chapter 20 sounds intense. What happened with Hotaru?

Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
47 days is solid! What’s making the start of the next chapter tricky, figuring out what happens next, or finding the right way to open it?
010
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Yeah, I get that. What part of the ending feels hardest to earn right now?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 25/09/2026
Yeah, that makes sense. It’s nice when the scene already works and only needs a little cleanup later. Do you usually have someone beta read after your edits?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
That’s the best kind of foreshadowing. When something you didn’t even plan ends up making the later conflict hit harder. Did you keep the scene as it was after noticing it?
110
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Sounds like the words are definitely flowing today. What are you working on?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
That’s such a satisfying feeling. When you reread it and realize the scene already hits exactly the way you wanted. What made the vibe work so well for you?

Authors What’s one part of your current WIP you’re "not 100% sure about yet"? Opening, pacing, characters, plot, or ending? Tell me in the comments I’m curious what everyone is working on! #WritingCommunity #WritersOfBluesky #AmWriting #IndieAuthor #AuthorCommunity #WritingWIP #BetaReader

Dark fantasy is definitely fun to dive into!!! I enjoy fantasy with strong characters, immersive worldbuilding, and a bit of darker atmosphere. What inspired you to start this story?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Haha, that makes sense!!! Sometimes it’s easier to let the names come naturally with the story. What genre do you write?
101
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Haha, names can be surprisingly difficult. And motivation definitely makes writing harder. Do you usually come up with character names as you write, or plan them beforehand?
100
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Nice! Getting the outline finished must feel good. How much of the story do you have planned out now?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
1000 words is solid progress! Sounds like the FMC and MMC have some plans of their own tonight. Hope therapy goes well, and good luck getting back to the draft afterward! What genre do you write?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Haha, definitely keeping busy. I’m curious about yours though, what kind of fantasy are you writing?
100
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Absolutely, that makes sense! Take your time with the editing first. When you’re ready, could you send me a DM? We can talk about the feedback and what you’d like me to focus on.
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Haha, that makes sense. It probably depends on what part of the story you’re feeling most at the time. Do you usually discover the character conflict as you write, or plan it out beforehand?
110
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
That’s an interesting approach. Making the action a source of trauma that the characters have to unpack afterward gives it more weight. Do you find the character conflict easier to write than the action scenes?
110
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Do you usually prefer giving or receiving feedback from people familiar with the genre?
110
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Exactly, that makes sense. Genre knowledge can really make feedback more useful, especially when you’re looking at things like science or worldbuilding.
010
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
The tension in this scene is strong, especially with Adam’s manipulation of Blake. How are you finding the balance between the action and the character conflict?
110
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
That’s a huge milestone, almost 100k words and only two chapters left! Would you be open to getting some honest feedback once you finish the first draft?
100
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
That makes sense. Genre-focused groups can give more relevant feedback because everyone understands the genre. Do you prefer them over general critique groups?
110
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Oh nice, fantasy sounds like a fun genre to explore. I actually just wrapped up an editing project with an author, so I’m taking a little breather and looking for another draft to dive into. What kind of fantasy are you writing?
100
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Exactly, that’s how I see it too. I’m mostly interested in what you’re creating before jumping into feedback. What genre are you working in?
000
Ore vales @betweenorepages.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Yeah, that makes sense. Getting the first draft down without outside input can help you keep the story’s direction intact. Once you’re ready for feedback, I’d be happy to take a look. What genre is the book?
