Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 29/09/2026god this arc of 7th Prince is so incredible The author took a break a few months ago to plan this whole arc and it shows, it feel a lot tighter and well-written, the pacing is impeccable 001
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 29/09/2026that's crazy that you're one of the few composers I recognize by name, you worked on one of the most successful indie games of all time, you did music for Minecraft, and you're only just "surviving". the industry has failed its talents 020
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Game where every level builds up to a climactic bossfight but when you get to the boss arena the boss isn't there but every NPC acts as if it is You do the entire game like this and there's a metanarrative where you the player need to figure out why the game is broken 000
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Still thinking about the epilogue of Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe I think I can now admit to myself that I was pretty disappointed by Wanderstop, in large part because Stanley and Beginner's Guide marked me so deeply It was a really good game, just not at all what I was expecting after those two 000
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Denshattack! : An incredible concept, executed with style and passion. What an incredible vision for a game, a visual and auditive treat. Gameplay got kinda repetitive after a while though, and I don't think I have it in me to finish it, but I defninitely recommand you give it a try. 001
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Solarpunk : Went in with high expectations, immediately fell off a cliff. A disappointing experience, feels incredibly incomplete and barebones, and looks more like an early access game. Solid base, early game could use so polish, but mid to late game could use ~two years of regular content updates. 100
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026(the) Gnorp Apologue : Small little incremental game with fun systems and deep synergies you need to master. Pretty short, especially for the genre, but hits the dopamine center like a truck for a few days. 100
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Nine Sols : Bounced off pretty hard with that one, mainly because of the way the game implements the Dark Souls bloodstains. Really beautiful, very intriguing story, hard to master combat, but kinda shallow exploration and a difficulty curve that's out of whack. Don't think I'll be finishing it. 100
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Gambonanza : "Balatro but with chess", a cool concept executed with elegance. The game is noticably harder than Balatro, especially as you rise through the different "stakes", but it also feels pretty reptitive after a while, mainly because of the joker equivalent (gambits) not feeling very deep. 100
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Big Walk : A masterclass on how to do game design in a coop game. Really depends on who you're playing with, but as long as it's with the right people, an unforgettable experience. I do wish the puzzles had a little more variety, most of them boiled down to "telephone but with a twist". 110
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood : A deeply profound, immersive, and moving experience. This game surprised me by just how much I loved playing it, and how quickly the story grabbed me. The dialogue is funny, witty, really well written, and I wish I could have kept playing for 15 more hours. 120
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Games I've played recently Endacopia : one of the coolest games I've played in a long time. I vibed with it like I've rarely vibed with a game before, and it kept surprising me at every turn with how weird, funny, and sometimes surprisingly earnest it could be. 120

Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Half of the work of a game designer is copying ideas and concepts you like from other games and trying to fit them in your game The other half is copying ideas you didn't like from other games and changing them so they work more like you wanted them to 010
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Or like, you don't even have to go that far to find it used correctly : Dark Souls itself is a great example of a correct way to use this mechanic. Unfortunately a lot of people copy the rule of the design without understanding its spirit or changing the rest of the game's design to accomodate it. 000
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I go into more detail in the answers, but there is a right and a wrong way to implement it. Silksong and Mina the Hollower are two examples where the mechanic can be used in a fun and interesting way, but added in without care about ramifications can ruin an otherwise really fun gameplay loop 110
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026It's infuriating because the rest of the game is top-notch, it's beautiful, the combat is very harsh but rewarding once you master it, the story is interesting, the level design is great... It's really just this one mechanic that makes playing it an absolute pain 010
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026There could be solutions to this : - Don't make the enemies three-shot you - Lower the power of upgrades but make them cheaper - Increase money dropped by enemies so you can farm them - Accessibility/difficulty options to turn this mechanic off entirely 010
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Some enemies in Nine Sols do enough damage to three-shot you if you miss you parries, and sometimes they can even absorb your corpse, leaving you no choice but to kill them to get it back! If you want to do this kind of thing, that's fine, but lower the enemies' damage ffs! 110
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026So you spend hours exploring an area and getting chests, only to suddenly find a mini-boss, and if you don't have enough money to buy an upgrade you're essentially fucked. A lot of those mini-bosses ARE optional, but even normal enemies can sometimes just kill you if you're not careful 120
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Even if you want to be mindful and spend your money regularly to not have too much on you, upgrades in this game are very expensive and you have no bank of any kind. Furthermore, the most effective way of getting money is treasure hunting, and once you open a chest it doesn't respawn. 220
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I'm currently playing Nine Sols, and this single mechanic has made me want to uninstall the game multiple times. The enemies in Nine Sols can one-shot you if you're not careful, and your corpse contains both your entire money AND your experience 120
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026If done right it CAN absolutely work and be somewhat fun. Silksong and Mina have integrated it in thoughtful and effective ways. Done poorly, it can vary between "disrepectful to the player's time" and "straight-up harmful to your game's design" 110
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I really and truly think that the Souls-like mechanic of having to get to your corpse to get your money back and if you die you lose everything is one of the most unfun game design ever 250

Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 10/09/2026And like sure the big fights and clipmactic battles are epic and all, but most of all I love how characters interact with each other I was screaming the whole arc when I learned Guisarme was in the school, he's such a cool character 100

Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 07/09/2026To Be Fair, that's like the entire premise of the Wolfenstein games Like, it's a "manly man" game to an absurd degree, that's part of the joke. The tongue is firmly in cheek for that one I think, and the appeal IS in part that kind of 80's action movies machism 1320
Reposted by BetshetK'eeg @armormodekeeg.blacksky.app · 05/09/2026I say this as a joke but honestly if, when playing a video game, you can lose and: - not get frustrated or annoyed - think about what happened and examine the elements in play - reconsider your choices regularly then you'll be well on your way to overcoming a lot of difficult gaming challenges 21901273
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 04/09/2026That is an incredibly ignorant and childish concern. AI isn't smart, and the only way it can cause any harm is if humans put it in a position where it can do harm. Regulations are necessary, but that's not because of a hypothetical super-AI and more because of simple greed/incompetence from humans. 010
Betshet @betshet.bsky.social · 04/09/2026It's definitely a bubble, which will pop at some point when investors will realize they can't shove it into every single part of our lives. However, AI will still be present after the bubble pops, there is demand and uses for it in certain fields, and people have gotten really dependant on it. 000
