James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 21/07/2026It’s my birthday this week. So I’m giving away all my books. Ebook only(sorry). From today through the 24th. 112
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/03/2026Had a couple months of life being life. Which means writing has been a little slower. Been capping at about 2k words a day for a bit. But! Just hit 8k today. Not my best day ever, but it’s a number I’m happy with. Hoping to maybe double it after a little break. 010
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 27/02/2026Got both Jacks, nice! I got all the Summervale art from an artist on Fiverr a few years ago. I was going to share their profile, but they’ve apparently been inactive for a couple years now… Which is a shame, I liked working with them. 000
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 27/02/2026Depends which stickers you grabbed. I’m assuming the orcs? 200
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026Anyway, I’m writing this to procrastinate the book I’m supposed to be working on… So I should get back to that. Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’re excited to see from me this coming year and I’ll let you know the status. 000
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026But those were always sort of special cases. It’s all invite only right now, and no official announcements have been made, but you may notice my little imprint’s name on more and more books as this year goes on. And potentially in genres you might not expect. 100
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026I’m expanding Robber’s Dog Pub. It’s a slow process, and there are certain factors and timelines that have to be considered. But we’ve started publishing books not written by James Jakins. I have in the past. We have some short story collections and an anthology. 100
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026Now, I know what at least a few of you are asking: If you wrote so much, where were the new releases? That’s a really good question… This year. That’s the plan. I’m hoping to have a fairly consistent release schedule this year. But I have found other ways to fill my time now… 100
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026It’s scary, but I’m living the dream thanks to all my incredibly generous readers. On the financial side of things, that also drove me to put all my books on Kindle Unlimited, since that seems to be where the money is currently. So, now is a really good time to binge read everything I’ve released. 100
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026I’ve been really lucky these last few months that book sales have spiked. I’ve been able to keep the lights on through book sales alone, which has been amazing. So a huge thank you to everyone that’s been giving my books a chance. 110
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026I’m hoping to release at least one Summervale novel this year. In the middle of revising, and I think it’s pretty good. Other than writing, on the personal side of things, I lost my day job back in September. Luckily I had a few months warning, but, unfortunately, never was able to find a new job. 100
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026But I do want to make sure anyone that wants to stay updated can. 2025 was an… interesting year. I wrote a lot last year. I did the math and it was somewhere around 300k words. I drafted, planned, outlined. Finished several novels and novellas. And released nothing. 110
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 06/01/2026We’re about a week into the new year and I figured it’s about time I gave an update. Been a long time since I’ve posted anything. Those of you that follow me on any social media site now I am just godawful at posting consistently. Honestly? Not really something I feel too bad about. 100

James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 03/06/2025I think we talked about it on Reddit years ago and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Specifically the fact that Jack is a horrible shot and I so badly want Grimluk to be the one that teaches him how to aim properly. 110

One of the big things I decided to do, with all the mental hurdles, is ask that my readers help me celebrate A Demon in the Desert. If you ever read and enjoyed it, please share! 062
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 03/06/2025Making me feel old… But I need you to know how happy I am Grimluk exists. Seriously. I do my best to introduce the good demon hunter to anyone that asks me about orcs. And one day I need him to meet Jack. 110
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 03/06/2025Huge congrats to @ashearmstrong.bsky.social for ten years of Grimluk! I can’t believe it’s been that long already… 020
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 21/05/2025Little writing update: Wizards of Behemoth is with some trusted readers. Expecting good notes soon. I’ve completely outlined the sequel, Scavengers of the Dragon Rift. And I’ve officially started working on the third Jack Bloodfist novel. Plan is to have all 3 finished then do a rapid release. 040

James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 05/05/2025Recently finished the first draft of the next Arthur and Miki book. My partner read it in one sitting and immediately demanded the sequel. I’m taking that to mean it’s good. 140

James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 27/01/2025Yesterday was my regular TTRPG group’s first session after a 3 month break. I ran Mausritter and had the party explore their characters’ home base as mice. Was really fun showing them their impact on the world like that. 040
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 25/01/2025This book, Wizards of Behemoth, is about a giant walking city ruled by a class of smug chuckle-fucks that think they actually matter. In a moment of pure catharsis, my anger at similar assholes lined up with my character's. A 13-year old orc girl felt rage and did something about it. Felt good. 040
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 25/01/2025Been thinking about some of my favorite Pratchett quotes. Specifically some about Anger. Feeling it lately... Currently writing the 6th book in my Heroes of Summervale series. A series I fully outlined 7 or 8 years ago... And the timing of this one is something. Just hit a scene that drove it home. 150
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 21/01/2025Took my books off Kindle Unlimited a few months ago so I could make them available in more stores, and was pleasantly surprised this morning to find that for the first time my non-Amazon sales were higher than my Amazon numbers. So, thanks, whoever did that. Hope the trend continues. 040
James Jakins @bethteva.bsky.social · 20/01/2025Just got up from one the best writing sessions I’ve had in a while. About 7,500 words, give or take. Last couple of months(years, honestly) have been hard. But feels like something snapped back into place today. 140
