Believe me, there are far more beautiful places but I can never get a decent picture of these woods with my phone. To have some acres left untamed this close to the city is a gift not wasted on us Moores. I wish I were walking some of you who could use these bird songs the most through these woods.

Flew back home yesterday from serving in Honolulu. Had the best time, met the most wonderful people & saw the most gorgeous mountains & trees. But I couldn’t wait to get back and check on the deer, see my critters, feed the fish, run my bird dog and, in less than 2 minutes, hear all these beauties.

Keith and our 1 year old Pecos just got home from hunting and he told me something I can’t quit picturing and laughing about. He said she points beautifully but, problem is, she’s got so much energy & speed, she can’t stop running so she leaps and does a perfect point… midair …lands & keeps running.

We agreed no matter what the minister said, we were only taking out a 50 year lease with an option to renew because Keith couldn’t imagine being married the rest of his life. I think this devotional might be a really good place to start! I’d also recommend “daily light” for someone wanting to get a feel for daily scripture reading. These together would take only about 10 minutes. For a book of the Bible, I’d also consider starting with one chapter of Luke every day.

Something so undoing just happened. A mourning dove hit the glass of the door on my porch with terrible force. Pecos went crazy and I saw the little beauty lifeless, its neck all bent, & I cried like a baby. I got a small towel and stooped over to gather it up gently & it got up & flew to the table.

A problematic side to having big hair is that your puppy may think it’s a nice pillowy all-occasion waking or sleeping place to rest her head. 1st pic, while driving. Second pic, while sitting in our den in front of the fire. And I’d like to go on record saying her head weighs like a jillion pounds.

I get the feeling the Lord is constantly trying to say to me, I took care of all these animals without you before you moved out here. Yes, Lord, I want to say. But there was no trash can.

Ok, I brought y’all with me to get her up. Don’t let her calm fool you. She’ll shortly run me ragged all over the woods. This was also the annoying voice I used to awaken my kids in the morning. It started like this. “It’s morning time, Little Sweetie!” But at least they got the same back scratch.

The Lord hath blessed me with an exhilarating bird morning before church. I’m presently tiptoeing through the woods in my pajamas in search of a Warbler with a yellow rump and a kinglet with a ruby crown. Oh oh oh, and a northern flicker. Follow me for more thrilling posts like these.
