The start of August has me like
A black and white dog, his body and most of his face covered by a curtain, peeks at you as though he is Emperor Palpatine as he hides from the day.

I’m attaching a screenshot of what she said. Best of luck this next school year!
I would say definitely take advantage of a digital calendar and some sort of LMS (whether that is Google Classroom or Canvas) from the teacher end. I would also say from the teacher end that on the first day of class for each week to make sure to schedule in “housekeeping stuff”. It will also be important for departments and/or grade levels to plan together in order for big assignments/assessments/projects to not overlap as much as possible.

For student side of things it is imperative to start using the digital calendar, and I would even say some sort of paper calendar to get started. Ideally there would be some homeroom situation where students could organize themselves each week. The schedule I was on had one day each week (Mondays) where they attended all classes in one day in order to keep organized.

Thorton sends you a timeline cleanse and advises you to eat that treat you’ve been saving, like he’s about to do.
A black dog with a white chest and a white band around his nose looks up. His tongue is slightly out in anticipation of the greenie he’s about to get.

Ooh! There are so many great k-dramas out there! I’m enjoying First Night with the Duke, but it’s not 100% released, so I reserve judgement about the quality. Hands down, my favorite is My Dearest, a gorgeous panoply of love amidst war, tragedy, and ultimately, growth and self discovery.
Soft focus featuring a man in a blue hanbok with his hand wrapped around the face of a young g woman in a bright yellow and green hanbok. The foreground is out of focus, but the spring green of the tall grass echoes across the field. The sun is setting, casting peach and yellow light over the scene. There are words in Hangul in the upper left, which might be My Dearest, the English title of the work.

Thorton follows me everywhere; you never know when there will be snacks or a walk.
A short haired mostly black dog keeps his eyes on me as many hours of the day as possible. He is lying on the floor with his head turned toward the camera; both white tipped back legs stretch underneath him. One front white leg is curled under and one is stretched out before. He wants to know if you have snacks.

During Winter Break, I started playing Stalker 2, admittedly on easy mode. It reminds me so much of what I loved from Red Dead Redemption 2, Skyrim, and the Fallout games. Open world exploration with an enjoyable storyline. I got stuck in SIRCA b/c of a bug; if on xbox, avoid there for now.
Text on the image says Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl 2025. In the mid ground, the image is of a person in three quarters view, in shades of green, gray, yellow and brown. They are wearing a gas mask and carrying a pack on their back. In the background, there are shadowy images of towers shrouded by gray clouds.

Burning the old year by Naomi Shihab Nye is always a good one. www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48597/...
Letters swallow themselves in seconds.
Notes friends tied to the doorknob,
transparent scarlet paper,
sizzle like moth wings,
marry the air.

So much of any year is flammable,
lists of vegetables, partial poems.
Orange swirling flame of days,
so little is a stone.

Where there was something and suddenly isn’t,
an absence shouts, celebrates, leaves a space.
I begin again with the smallest numbers.

Quick dance, shuffle of losses and leaves,
only the things I didn’t do
crackle after the blazing dies.

Gorgeous winter sky tonight; reminds me of a Maxfield Parrish painting.
The sky from inside our truck window looks like pink cotton candy strewn across an ombré baby blue to mandarin orange horizon. The parking lot looks bare below this cornucopia of color.

Borges is one of the reasons I am so glad KSU had us take Literatura de las Américas. Gorgeous. Each of Us a Desert by @markdoesstuff.bsky.social reminds me of him.
The cover of Each of Us a Desert has a contras blue green background with an orange at the top center sun and an orange triangle at the bottom. The triangle has a subtle shadow in darker orange of a person’s face and says “Find where you belong” in white font.

TFW you’re waiting for open house to start. The calm before the storm.
My classroom has yellow and brown tiles -our school colors - and groups of desks. Each desk has 2 to 4 books on it in anticipation of the first day. You can see several desktop computers and plants in the background. There are two windows letting in natural light. In this view, taken from my desk, you can see several table groups and the door, with an American flag tacked up by a blank white board.A closer look at the bookshelves that line the front of the room. Hands down it would have to be Switch by A.S. King. Has time truly stopped? Is it a metaphor for COVID? The protagonist describes their house as tilted on its axis so folks have to climb in the windows. Is this figuative? A YA trip for sure.
The ombré purple and blue cover of Switch shows houses all tipped on their axis, with a line that divides them.

Thorton gazes longing at Grace and Lauren, a super sweet couple, and hopes they have a peaceful and sweet evening.

Currently binge watching double; a Chinese historical drama about revenge & intrigue. The sound track is on point, and the mystery behind who tried to kill the lead is engaging. If you’re looking for a distraction, this one is riveting.
