from a user perspective, busses are also less reliable than trains and less convenient than cars. Waiting a long time at a bus stop with limited shelter can be really unpleasant most of the year.

It would probably also be easier to grow a company with employees if the cost of benefits per full time employee goes down thousands a month, even if payroll taxes go up to pay for it.

I feel like an element of this that gets under-discussed is that if we had national healthcare more people would be willing to start a business or work contract or freelance because we wouldn't absolutely need to find a job with health insurance.

Most arguments for ai start with the premise that it will be better in the future but so far it’s only made things that worked fine already worse.

I’ll admit my bias as a qualitative scholar but I don’t think “all communication” is really something you can quantify. I guess if you count a sentence as 1, pitch as 1, pace, gesture, context, facial expression, proximity, vocal quality etc you get close but they aren’t all doing an equal amount
