Last Fall, I started Fall into Alpine Granite, inspired by Vancouver Island's Strathcona Park. The changing colours and light, experiencing the season's change in this September, provided the inspiration I need to finish. A slow work!

One of my favourite electrical symbols, because of its name and the way is resembles a tree, is protective resistor. In this work, the symbol stands above a nurse log. It is a call to action, a celebration of the transformational power of forests. They are more than just harvestable timber.

Especially now, in the age of AI, it seems vital to ponder what all of our computer motherboards have birthed. Consider what lies behind a simple plug in the well. Notice the infrastructure of power. Witness of the exponential utility of it all. #art #power #ai #electricity
A painting by artist Beth Gallup called Behind the Plug, a visual exploration of the infrastructure of electrical power.

Gothic arches. Hidden churches. Clandestine spaces where minorities gathered to commune and celebrate. Authorities looked away, comfortable they could report, “Just a barn.” As I finished this architectural mashup, I wondered "Were these places of dissent only somewhere else, once?"

How fun is this? Stumbled across a notebook from Grade 3, discovered I sometimes added illustrations to my book reports. Here is "Me as Sherlock Holmes."

After weeks of drought, snow has finally arrived. Happy to be out of my studio, adventuring in the mountains that surround my town.
