uh, no. SNAP benefits equate to ~1200-1500 on average, PER YEAR, PER family. It can't be spent on almost anything but groceries, with HEAVY restrictions. Minimum wage work in the US, full-time, for 4, 40-hour work weeks, is ~$1160 a month. And the latter is still not enough to live on.

I think they're talking about "Gender Queer" by Maia Kobabe, but the author has come out and said that it's not meant for minors and even middle schools that happen to have copies don't just let 6th-graders grab it off the shelf, they have to get special permission to even get to see it.
