Just finished Lanterns season finale. Good episode, little anticlimactic. But over all good. Pretty disappointed that apparently all the character assassination they did to Hal is there to stay.

Hal's Dad passing from a test flight accident as a hero who died doing what he loved and not from suicide is fundimental to his characterm why Hal loves to fly, why he uses humor to deflect, why he stays distant to his friends/fam and WHY HE CAN OVERCOME GREAT FEAR. Kinda important don't you think?

Lanterns showrunners defend decision to change Hal Jordan's origin... sorry guys there is no defense. You fundamentally changed Hal as a character to his core. You altered his entire view on the world, decision making process, values and motivations with this one change share.google/3A736MiMTGY4...

Hit take... Lanterns should be a little more the Ryan Reynolds movie and a little less HBO.

So now Hal's Dad killed himself? Someone at HBO hates Hal Jordan... #Lanterns

Lanterns is amazing TV, but the Hal Jordan treatment is brutal: old, disgraced, 10yrs in prison, ring decommissioned, hated, and shot in the head. In the comics John respects the hell out of Hal as the greatest GL. He doesn't think he's not worthy n rip the ring off his finger!

020

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Out Batman with 1 punch tor talking shit about Hal. They are friends. Now most ppl hate Hal and he's dies in disgrace. I hate it! But we will see how it ends. Hopefully it makes sense.

020

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

I get that they are prepping Stewart to be THE Green Lantern after Lanterns and we will likely never get a prime Hal story. But did they really have to prop Stewart up b6 chopping Hal down? In the comics John has great respect for the greatest GL, Hal (not opinion fact). To the point he knocks

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

To be clear, the show is phenomenally done all around. What I dont like is how they are making Hal out to be a piece of shit, did 10yrs in jail and then got shot in the head! BUT im trying to be patient and trust the process amd hope it all makes sense in the end.

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Im trying my best to be patient with Lanterns. It's making it very difficult.

Just a reminder that as the twin towers were collapsing and thousands tragically perished, Donald Trump called in to the live coverage of a tv network to make sure everyone knew his Trump tower was once again the tallest building in NYC. Talk about a piece of shit. #neverforget

I wish they did a Lanterns podcast like they did with s2 of Peacemaker with @jamesgunn.bsky.social and co instead of giving us this straw hat goofy tiktoker as host. I got halfway through ep1 and havent put it back on. Dull as bathwater. Opportunity missed here.

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Sometimes a show or movie just misses you. You watch it and hate it or dont get it or both. This is what happened to me on my first viewing of HBO's Watchmen (2019). After a rewatch, I can firmly say l was wrong. It is brilliant.

I thought it felt very realistic. Sometimes parents drive to have their kid suceed as well as live vicariously through them, can make ppl behave in harsh and seemingly uncaring ways to achieve their goal. It is very selfish behavior and thats what I was getting from John's mom.

010

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Also, giving us this version of John's origin helps us understand why he is the person he is in the present. Same for Hal. Your experiences shape who you are and you can't tell me Hal doesn't act with the inherent (white) privilege of not worrying about how he behaves or what he says. 3/3

000

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

throughout their life. And also, it allows us to ask the question why all superheroes were white at one point in comics history? Why was Hal created to be white in the first place? why'd it take so long for black Superheroes to be created or for us to get a black Lantern? 2/3

100

BETA RAY BILL @beta-ray-bill.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Ppl need to stop being upset about John Stewart's DCU origin. Wad there a racial aspect to Hal Jordan being selected? No of course not. The Guardians had none of our Earthly bias. But that certainly doesnt prevent a black person from feeling that it's a factor when that's been their experience 1/3

was not validated as these atrocities all happened. Only now are there foundations raising money decades later and we are still finding mass graves and IDing victims. Just disgusting that this could be done to fellow humans.

of the series and again the Tulsa scene hit me hard. I immediately started googling cuz I had to know if the scene was embellished cuz with this watch I noticed things like a fucking airplane dropping bombs on black owned business, n ppl being dragged through the streets. Sadly my faith in humanity

My first introduction to the 1921 Tulsa Masacre was when I watched episode 1 of The Watchmen on HBO in 2019. I felt crazy for not knowing. After some research I found out it was largely covered up and not taught in schools or textbooks. I read about it and was horrified. Today I begin a rewatch

Just got out of a late IMAX showing of The Odyssey and I am blown away. Just brilliant. This could be Nolan's greatest film. The battle of Troy marked the end of civility in our world that we are still trying to climb back from. Just beautiful.

Watched S1 of Lucky on AppleTV. I am blown away. Every episode was phenomenal, and I can't remember a show in recent years with such amazing performances across the board. Anya Taylor-Joy, Timothy Olyphant, Annette Bening and William Fichtner were just unbelievable. Anya was mesmerizing. 1/2

Just finished ep1 of Lanterns and I am absolutely blown away. Everything in this show so far is perfect. The tone, the characters, the lore, the mystery. I can not wait to watch the rest of this series! This may go down as one of the best DC projects of all time.
